I have cut way back on purchases, around one car a month or less, but as a couple of members who have paid me a visit can testify I have a large number of slot cars. I still can't resist a great new slot car.

I've been going through some neglected boxes of HO stuff lately... it's never ending! Those little cars add up quickly after 50+ years.
Please -- don't get me wrong -- I love it! The majority of this stuff is for "pancake motor" T-Jet or AFX type HO chassis.
I know I have hundreds of HO runner/racers, but the amount of stuff I've accumulated over the past few decades is amazing.
Cars, bodies, wheels/tires, parts, ect. purchased under the heading: "to be made into this or that", or "hey, it would be cool to build one of those" -- you all get the idea, right? I'm sure there are many more in our hobby with the same situation.
I'm most actively racing HO scale cars of all types, and occasionally 1/24 club or commercial track hard body cars. So, I have decided to sell off the majority of my 1/32 stuff starting next year, as I've only used about 5 or 6 of the dozens of new cars that are packed away in boxes here, never opened. No details as to exactly what right now, so please don't ask yet.

Let's hope we all live long enough to enjoy our respective boxes of slot car treasure! -- Ernie :>)

I keep building, so my collection is expanding. My cupboard with its plastic drawers are so full I can hardly fit anymore. If I empty my race case, there is nowhere to put the cars. If proxy cars return, where do I put them?

I keep thinking i should sell a few cars to make room for more, but then i can't part with any on them. I rarely race RTR cars anymore, but think how well they would run if I put a brass chassis under them, so they stay in the drawer.

I think I have about 100 cars right now. i have about 20 bodies in a bin waiting to be built up.

Woe is me, I really must stop this.

Funny Dennis, I always thought that saying was about women.

I suffer from SSCS (Shiny Slot Car Syndrome) just about every race meet and at least 3 or 4 times per week I have these attacks where I see a slot car that I haven't seen before or that someone has recently purchased but seeing it for real I realise it looks sooo much better... (why is that LOL) and then I start searching for one to buy - sometimes these attacks can last for days and occasionally multiple episodes happen at the same time..... all my research suggests there isn't a cure :(

Recently I did some rearranging in my slot room and built and replaced some shelves so I could better display some cars that I had tucked away in drawers and cupboards - they look great but it made me realise I have too many cars. This is one of the side effects of SSCS - I felt a bit guilty about it for a few minutes and even commented to a mate about it. I was feeling a little down and had to do some rationalising to set my mind at ease. I have been collecting for quite a few years - that only averages out to XX number of cars per year - that car was a bargain - it was 1 car for $40 but 2 for $60 - some folk spend more money on (insert something bad for you here) etc etc . but still I was just feeling a little down - I knew what I needed to lift my spirits - a quick search online and email or two - and that new Carrera 1/24 C7R I had been eyeing off is on its way - felt good ordering and will feel even better when I get to race it.

But I do have too many cars...... and I am going to cut back a little :)
