I saw this item on another site and thought it was pretty cool. I will try one as soon as it is available for a car I have.

Interesting concept, and it looks like it would add a required skill level to get around the track faster. I am not sure I believe the claim it will reduce lap times,

I really do like the idea though, as it looks like it would enhance the driving experience and add some fun to the mix.

How far could you take this concept? Steerable front wheels combined with the guide might be a revolutionary development allowing passing everywhere depending on lane structure. This guide would also be more forgiving in areas of chicanes, allowing some bumping without deslots.

I followed this discussion on Slotforum through the early stages and thought it to be an interesting concept. Allowing lateral movement in the guide is something I had wondered about as far back as the 60's and now it is here for at least this one model. I got rid of my NSR cars along time ago so this product won't do me any good in the near term.

If the spring shaft that holds the guide is rigid torsionally so that the guide doesn't tilt under force, I don't see how this would hurt performance. It might even improve it by dampening the lateral force between the guide and the edge of the slot. For those of us who have plastic sectional track such as Scaley or Artin or have wood track and adhered to a 3" lane spacing standard, such as myself, this guide could make passing in curves dicy unless all cars are equipped with the same guide set up. But overall, I think it is a cool concept.

I just ordered a pack of four to try them out on some scratch built frames. So voted with my wallet on this one. I am really interested in the forgiving nature these may have to prevent deslots.

Remember I run 143 scale GO track mixed with D132 track and added inside and outside borders on the GO track to allow me to run 132 scale. However the lane spacing is very tight for 132 on the GO stuff. Having guides with some lateral give in them may mean rubbing and bumping without deslotting

I also have tried small RC cars, but on a slot car sized layout, proper lane control is almost impossible. A guide like this fastened to a small RC car might keep the RC car between the ditches but still allow the freedom for some steering action. It would be ike playing Need for Speed with the steering help on.

It will be fun just seeing what these allow you to do and how they might be utilized in other areas.

Looks like something pretty similiar could be made for a brass chassis. Might take some experimenting, but a guide in a plastic drop arm that was just circular might do kind of the the same thing. Big trick is having the room for the guide to move laterally. I know somebody on this site could make something similiar. I bet the original idea was cooked up in a slotters basement!
