They will all be in fantasy liveries, although the liveries will be typical of the time. I have added a few screens and bits to the existing kits, and have replaced the stock plastic intakes with some really nice aluminum ferrules (much nicer!!) Additionally, the wheels and inserts have been swapped out with some much nicer looking pieces.
I have been using Tamiya Semi Gloss on a few cars recently, and have on this one.....the shine level is more realistic for cars of this period
On the chassis front, as the cars will be raced without magnets on wood, the hard chassis and pod will be used in all cases. additionally, after the pods are aligned, they will be glued in with some clear flexible glue (the chassis in the pic. has been done this way). I much prefer commercial grade sintered bronze bushings, so the stock bushings have been replaced with some single flange 3/32 x 3/16 bushings. A few quick strokes with a round file on the uprights and the bushings slipped right in....they were then aligned/glued. These 3/32 bushings also allow the use of quality 3/32 drill blank axles.
I am swapping out the stock motor for Piranna units (you are welcome SCC ;) ), but, there is no reason to do this, the stock TS motor is just fine.........I just have this need to change things!! ;)
Similarly, I have changed the gearing, while the stock bits are just fine, you can't beat a steel pinion...this one is a cut down MB Slot 11T.
Hopefully I will get them all done in time for Santa to deliver, and Happy Holidays to all!!
Cheers
Chris Walker
I am always amazed when I look at my photos taken with a Macro lens.......I thought the car was clean, bloody lens shows all the dust/track rubber.......looks much cleaner in person..honest!! :D
