Hi all, does anyone know of a 70 or 72 spoke 15" wire wheel done in 32nd scale? I don't want to hear about Peter Seager-Thomas's as his are neither available any more or affordable.
I shall need some on my Morgan SLR.
Cheers,
Martin

Thanks for that link, but it seems to be an artist's impression and it glibly says 15mm. If the insert is, as it reads, 15mm then the wheel would have to scale out at at least 19" and I've just designed a skinny pre-War 19" wire wheel for RS Slotrtacing. I need a scale 15" or at a push 16" wheel with photo etched inserts for a 70 spoker.

The link that I posted had this description:
"CG Slotcars 72 Spoke Wire Wheel Insert for 15mm wheels. These fit 15mm insert wheels from several manufacturers including C.B. Design, Slot.it, etc.. Package of four (4) inserts."

And therefore meant nothing to me as it didn't say where the 15mm was measured.
cgingras tells me that the insert itself is 12 319mm diameter, which works out nicely. It would still be better if there was an actual photograph of the insert and not an artist's impression.
Thanks, guys,
Martin

Matin, I have a set of the 72 spoke wires mounted with two-prong knock-offs on 15x7 CBDesign insert wheels on the OSCA MT-4 that I built out for this years La Carrera Panamericane proxy. You can find pics of the car/wheels in the 2017 La Carrera Panamericana Proxy sub-forum. I sprayed both the 72 spoke insets and the knock-offs with Duplicolor chrome paint and was very pleased with them (available from CG Slotcars, as first posted by rleog).

The spokes are .3mm ~ 3D printed
A photo etched insert will have thinner spokes - the detail will be a little finer - and they are also flat.... Each one has a trade off I think. .3mm gives a good appearance from 6 inches away... They are printed white and can be painted (I don't recommend Alclad)
Here is Allan's car.

The 14mm wheel would be a bit oversized for a 13" wheel and the 15mm wheel is way oversized for a 15" wheel, but a 16" wheel as used on a Maser 300S, for instance would be OK.
However, as the spokes are a) 60 in number, not 70 or 72 and
b) 3D printed and messy looking they aren't suitable for my needs.
BUT, that OSCA does look quite good on them, I must admit.
Most photo-etched wires have a spoke width too great and therefore look too flat and square, but a thickish coat of paint will always round them off a bit and improve the appearance.
Thanks for the help.
Cheers,
Martin
