What would you say is the best vintage Scalextric Trans Am 1/32 slot car based on overall scale accuracy and performance?
Best regards,
Brian

My favored one is the 69 Camaro, with the wider rear track and can be lowered, also the redone driver.

Define 'Best'....stock out of the box.... modified... etc?
Scaly '69 Camaro is horribly inaccurate.
'70 Mustang gets my vote

70' camaro
You can make really good racer without changing chassis. I have built for camaro cup one in the past powered by slot it 21.5k short can motor. Basic modification to chassis like sanding around edges good wheels and tires - yellow dogs half interior and zero mods to body. This car is as quick as my stock sideways group 5 car.

Agree with the other posters; either the '69 or he '70 Camaro. Of the two, the '70 is faster in my hands.

I have loads of these cars, and the consistent speedster is the Mustang. The slowest is the lovely Cougar. I have two '69 Camaros that are fast, and a skilled driver can consistently win with them, but all the Mustangs are winners over the other cars on our tracks. I built several of each of the Scaley cars from white kits, and every one of them for no apparent reason, is faster than its stablemates. I can't explain it. But I predict that when people have "run in" their new Javelins, there will be a conversation about how much speed they gain after a couple of months.

I Have to say my favorite go to scalextric is this Camaro out of the box with a set of PG tires it's just fast low center of gravity it's been in the winner's circle multiple times.

I think it is critically important that people note whether they run with or without magnets on plastic or wood as I believe that could be a very significant factor. Also what other work is done to the cars such as aftermarket tyres, gluing/truing, weight, axle/bushing/gears/wheel upgrades, guide mods/replacement, whether the car is lowered etc.

Bobby's right. I run on wood so much I completely let plastic track slip my mind, and its a different world altogether.

Don't worry about the green motor being an advantage. They've added speed limiters to the javelin to compensate. Just measure the rear track.
