The white or black foam board at Wal-Mart works great. The stuff the kids use for the Science and other presentation back drops. Just trim and hot glue.

Thanks Harry. I am aware of that technique. Though not as cheap, I may try the cork rail bed since it visually resembles a gravel shoulder and comes with a beveled edge.

Cork has been used for a long time and it is fine. It bends to any curve and there is no waste like with posterboard.

I completely missed what the original poster was asking. Wish I would have known about the cork before I used posterboard on my curves etc. Does it take paint well?
