2nd Ferrari Dino

Looking in my Project box I found another old Strombecker Ferrari Dino. On this one I decide I wanted to try and fix the things that looked wrong on the Strombecker version, and bring it more in line with the 1:1 car.

I reworked the rear valence, shortening the trailing fin edge and widening the Horizontal top. The car itself did not need much done except I bored out the front lights and installed see through screen front and back.

The windshield was all wrong on the Strombecker version. I vacuum formed a new windshield and added side windows.

Underneath is a Brass inline chassis with a FF050 slimcan of unknown origin. Not as torqy as the Scalextrics one, but better then the old BWA. It turns 19 K @ 12 volts and provides a good drive.

Wheels are Avant plastic in the front and Aluminum in the rear with PG rubber. Wheel inserts are from Mr Slotcar and are actually for the Mazda 787.

Car was painted with acylics and the decals made on my LaserJet printer.

One less body in the project box now..

Fixing a body contour is not for the faint of heart! It just looks "right" for the Dino now. I was wondering if you added that screen until I got there - looked too good to be Strombecker!

This came out really, really nice....

This car is small. If you check prototype pictures of this car, the drivers look even bigger then I have modeled
