The rear tires crowhop hop when I accelerate . This is on a newly painted wood track. Painted with flat latex.

Not that I'll know for sure bud, but what are the tires, and what are they on Rick?

What car also?

Flimsy motor cradle or the chassis is flexing between the motor and rear axle mount.
Loose axle bearing or to much play between axle and bearing.
Out of round wheels/tires.

Just a few off the top of my head... with such little info to go on...

Could be a number of things.

Are they glued and trued?

Could be a bent axle, a broken chassis, motor is loose, sloppy oilites, could be the body is to tight, something is rubbing a rear tire, or some other thing. Or a combination of things.

Post a few pictures. The folks here will figure it out.

Well , unfortunately I have yet to figure out the picture posting. But , theses are cars that I had run on carerra track last year , and they didn't crow hop. I just finished my first wood track build. Painted it with flat latex. Some of the cars that ran fine on the carerra track , now crow hop when I give them a lot of acceleration, on the new track.

With the metal chassis 1/24 cars we find that either the body is hitting a tire when it corners or we add outside weight which seems to stop the cars hopping in the corners. It is usually trial and error.

This pertains to our metal chassis 1/24 cars on wood tracks. We start with checking axles and tires then move onto other variables. The number one cause on the cars I scratch build winds up as a loose motor mounting.
It doesn't take much flex to cause that..............Sometimes if I float the body just a little also. :twocents-mytwocents: :twocents-mytwocents:

Did you run the cars with magnets?
They tend to smooth out a bumpier ride on plastic track.

my club races on several wood tracks here in NZ
wood track car set up is a little bit different than plastic track
with a wood track being a hard surface with absolutely no give in it unlike plastic track
it will be a lot less forgiving
plastic track cars tend to like some flexibility in the chassis
wood tracks cars like a fairly stiff chassis
a very good tuning trick is to brace the axle bushes to the motor with a bit of piano wire or similar
this will stiffen it up nicely
this is normally not needed on slot it cars as they have a very hard stiff motor pod
but cars like sideways cars greatly benefit from this setup on wood track
to much flex will cause what we call axle tramp which is when it bounces on acceleration out of the corners
and bouncing when accelerating in a straight line is mostly caused by a tire coming unglued, motor is moving or bush has come loose
wood track cars also prefer next to no up and down movement in the front axle
