Not sure where to post this but I just felt I wanted to say it again just one more time...
It takes a very special person who willingly puts out such a tremendous and arduous effort. How many slot car forums are there that even slightly promote the obscure genre of not only dirt track slot cars but yet the nostalgic dirt track slot car racers?... especially in our favorite made for home scale 1/32...They're all missing out on what so many Americans loved most about their own cars and the sport of auto racing... and Harry is helping us keep it alive and in our homes for each of us to cherish and enjoy if only in a scale just like we remembered and loved in the day. HRW,Harry,and it's members are bringing the hobby to where the commercial manufactures never could and is enableing more people to find the genre of the slot car hobby that was really never presented or available ever before... in my opinion. And with the help from such a great membership with all their various talents I see even a greater future for this particular genre.So,anyways,BIG Thanks to Harry... and crew... and Brew too!!! I have repeatedly witnessed that Harry's advocating and promoting of this genre has brought forth much greater movement from many suppliers than I've ever seen in the past.They are seeing there really is a market here. From the cottage industries,home brews,and the manufacturers we are now able to find just about every item needed to scratch build a cool dirt slot car. Not many moons ago that was quite a bit harder task to accomplish. So,BIG thanks for enabling this particular genre that Harry and crew has resurrected. I am looking forward to a great future for nostalgic dirt slot car racing. With respect to all who love and help this hobby....BIG THANK YOU! :twocents-mytwocents:

I will try to do my best to keep pimping our oval series. Yeah...I know, old school brass and modeling. But it's fun and hope new faces join in like this past event. I was REALLY happy seeing newcomers in the mix.

I like my ready to run cars. Still enjoy a good old Slot.it from the case. But building is just so much fun :)

I have yet to build a brass custom chassis for a Showdown proxy, but I have 80 - 100 of my own dirt track replicas built for my own oval - inspired by HRW and what the others are doing. Most of my cars have homemade plastic chassis using sheet styrene or circuit board stock I used to get at Radio Shack. Plus, I print out bodies using heavy photo paper stock and fold them to look like the sheet metal bodies 1:1 cars have had in the northeast since 1980. Not legal for Showdowns, but just what the doctor ordered for my purposes.

We all don't have to do things in the same way to still share our passion and learn from each other.

Almost nothing can make me grin more than this. THAT is the way to go. Build it YOUR way. Enjoy them anyway you can.

You really hit the nail on the head.
Of course I didn't grow up with oval cars although similar does exist in the UK.
HRW really gave me the opportunity to revisit my old failed chassis attempts from my teenage years. It has totally brought me back to slot car racing in a way that I feel confident that I will never leave.

The really important thing is the grass roots ethos which makes it affordable, technical in a "hands on" way, and so creative when you look at the variety of 1:1 old oval racers that can be modelled. Harry's rules have hit it just right with speeds appropriate to scale cars.
Additionally, American owners and teams inherently seem to know how to present their cars with wonderful colour schemes and "attitudes" of the cars themselves. No wonder this youngster from the UK spotted the Hot Rod and Road and Track magazine pictures on the '70s newsagent shelves!

Add to this the huge generosity of Harry and Brew and many others....I'M here to stay, as long as they will have a Limey :}

Eric, Great to see ya havin fun! And...thanks for being here! All I can say is the more the merrier cause the more the interest grows,the more the needed sources, products,and techniques should become available. Right Mr. Brew? I myself was drawn into 1/32 and away from 1/24 and H.O. (since 1958)... due to finding what Harry,crew, and Brew had going on with this forum in 1/32 scale.The nostalgia dirt trackers are my favorite genre of race cars so therefore I am very thankful to all others on here who enjoy the same...there seems to be greater interest all the time. It is a great honor for me to be welcomed to this very inspirational and motivational forum. I like to think of HRW as a comprehensive forum that covers all my specific needs and interests in the slot car hobby. So, thanks a lot to all who enjoy the older dirt cars too .I gotta get back to the shop cause my January 2019 Showdown project is getting lonely. Gotta go...see ya all...and have fun Eric!

Been hangin' out here for quite a few years now (2 different user names) and there's always something interesting going on.
