I buy very few RTR slot cars, but came across an internet store that had a Monogram McLaren and a Fly 906 packaged as a bundle. The price was low enough to entice me.
Does anyone have an opinion on the Fly 906. I have never purchased a Fly RTR and was wondering what to expect. Never saw a review but am hoping it is more of the same from Fly. Harry has done reviews on other Fly cars and they seem good, so have my fingers crossed I won’t be disappointed.

906?...
...do you mean 908?

You'll notice that the front tires are so tall that the guide sits way above the slot. Sand those down so that the guide is seated properly into the slot and the car should be capable of very quick lap times lap after lap. Mine feels a lot like my Slot It GT40 going around the track.

The 906 is a nice car. Mine have run right out of the box. The tires are a different size compared to the other fly classics. And... if you don't like it, I'll be a buyer.

Thanks guys.
I bought this for the much anticipated Ferrari/Porsche war. I really like the body style, and have versions in 1/43 and 1/24 but not 1/32. So I rectified the problem. Will most likely pop a resin shell using this as a master, and then I can make multiple cars of this historic racer.
Re 906 vs 908? Not sure if I confused the Carrera 6 with the nomenclature or if in fact both cars existed. Maybe one with a flat 6 and the other a flat 8?

The Fly 906 Carrera 6 is a pretty fast car. It's the same 18k motor but it has a lot less to push compared to the CodaLunga and the longtail 917s. The Chevron's are comparable but the 906 should be a really enjoyable car with minimal Fly tuning as Alwyn has noted.
For what it's worth, the Strombecker 906 is pretty widely available and close to the same size in case you didn't want to repop it.

ditto on all of the above...bought one (906) cheap off a clubmate and retuned it.
The sidewinder chassis is especially good.

I ran the Fly Carrera 6/906 in the Porsche vs Ford proxy. Finished 18 out of 39 cars and was ahead of some of the top proxy car builders. I did change the chassis to a 3D printed chassis from CG Slotcars. With the Piranha motor it was very close to my track record. 20 laps at 59.96 secs vs 59.02 secs with a 25K powered SCX COT Nascar.
Go for it.

Bromos,
Thanks for kudos. The car had a high of 5th and a low of 27th. So to finish where it did was a pleasant surprise. Now to get in your league as a top ten top five car. What was difference in your 927 and 907.
OH didn't mean to hijack this tread.
