20181010_175913.jpgIn cutting down a 1/32 Artin chassis to fit a 1/32 Fujimi Porsche 959 4wd mini racer, I took it a step further, creating an adjustable wb chassis to fit to my 1/28 Japanese models and other 1/24 models (up to stock car size).

Yup, that's the easy way to make a cheap chassis. Before 3D printing, Artin provided many donor chassis for me....I have a dozen or more and they are decent runners on my track with just a little bit of tuning.
That body is familiar....I have one on my workbench as well ;)

I am going to model the 959 to look more like the Le Mans 961 using 935 front and rear fenders from another Japanese kit.
The desired wb can be fixed using hot glue or solder at the telescopic joints, or even just a bit of tape. To firm up the extension a thin plastic plate can be shoo gooed to the bottom of the extension rails between the chassis pieces.
Another pard on HRW has volunteered to model this two piece chassis mod into a 3d printed chassis.
To be continued.

20181011_135314.jpgAnother development I call "Spring Float-Pod", a polymer rod inserted into the ends of the brass chassis rails. The amount of exposed rod can be increased or decreased to effect more or less of a spring-loaded float of the rear part of the chassis which is free to move up and down on the rear body posts.

Yup, different diameter wire does this in soldered chassis as well.
There are a couple adjustable wheelbase chassis options up on Thingiverse.... it's pretty easy to make whatever wheelbase you need. They are pod based....but there are pod designs available as well....
