Recent releases of the 1970 Camaro from Scalextric

I just noticed that at least two of the recently released 1970 Camaro have larger front tires like the racing Challengers did. The tires actually rub the fender wells in turns. I compared them with my older Camaros and the tires are definitely larger,

Yep. Appear to be same as rears. I just sand the rears and bring them to the front.

But for newcomers? Yes this needs to be looked at.

Does anyone know if the new Slot It standard wheel size applies to the front wheels as well? I was wondering if a Slot It front tire with a lower profile would fit the Scalextric 1970 Camaro.

The Camaro still uses the original hubs with the 4+mm centre ridge front and rear like they did on some other models like Modlerbob mentioned. The Cougars and Chargers spring to mind too.

I have a plain white '70 Camaro and decals for a replica of this car, but have been thinking about getting the RTR version because it looks so nice.

That is one of them yes. I have it.

Not sure I would pass on it just because if this. Like I stated, I sanded them and they work fine. Sanding them past the tread pattern reduces the diameter quite a bit.

Have you tried silicone tires on this car? I was surprised that the wheels were sized different on the inside of the wheels. My tires do not sit flat. I was not expecting the wheels to be different than the older T/A cars. I race on plastic track, so we use the silicone tires.

I have one, the tires sit flat and there's no rubbing on the body.

The photo of the car above shows the car not sitting square on all four wheels. the right hand wheel is not touching the track....Is this the cause of the rubbing problem?......Seems to need a Slot.it grub screw type solution to rectify properly.

I posted a tuning video on our YouTube channel. It’s risky but I notch the tops out of the front axle holder so I can barely get the axles out. That’s the only way, in my opinion, that you can ever “truly” true the front wheels. Even if you true them on the rears, it may be better but plastics wheels never seem to be the same. Many ways to skin a cat. This is just my way.

Please don't go by the photo. The shooter we have has tons of photos to take and often the wheels are off the ground but when i get the cars I check and they're not off the ground. Let's not make too much out of this please because I don't think there's much here frankly, despite Bob's "problem".
I've shot a photo of my sample. As you can see... wheels on the track.

Dave's shot caused me to look more closely at the 1st photo, and it appears both front wheels are off the deck and the braids are far from flat.
