I have 2 of the new Ford Gt’s one is mild race set up (no mag, tires and some chassis clean up) and one ie box stock. Neither car seem to have any brakes. Using a professor motor adjustable controller on a braided wood track. Would changing the pinion help? I’m not a fan of the FF motor in this car!
Has anyone heard if ant of the 3D chassis makers are going to do a chassis for the car?

You try a motor swap. There is the minnow that can be used.have not heard of 3d chassis in the works yet. There was talk that sideways was coming out with a gte . not sure if that still is the case or not.

These cars were designed to run on railed tracks, so I would expect that at least the car that still had its traction magnet would have enough brakes on one of those. My experience with cars that have FC-130 motors is that they have plenty of brakes on wood tracks. I have no experience with FF motors, my club does not race any car that uses them. Before you do anything else make sure that the brakes in your controller are working, the brake contact or the brake adjustment pot may be dirty. If the controller and track wiring are OK you could possibly change the gear ratio by going to a pinion gear with less teeth. Since I always go in the opposite direction it is hard to imagine doing that, but if the car comes with a 9 tooth pinion you could try an 8. There could also be other FF motors that have better brakes. I looked over the Slot Car News motor list and nothing looked better than the Scalextric FF-50 type motor.

An 8 tooth pinion will definitely improve the brakes somewhat but the car will loose some top end speed. This mightn't be a bad thing though especially if the straights aren't so long that the car can't reach top speed anyway.

I think now that I know this car has the FF motor I won't be getting one. I don't buy slot cars as a speculator or a collector, I buy them to run. I have had considerable trouble with cars I bought with the FF motor style.

This car is a problem for our club mainly because it's got that high rpm ff50...cars it would be up against have little chance and they're heavier. So, even though everyone kinda wanted one...it's not allowed in the class it belongs and is outgunned in upper classes.....so this ones a bust for now

You guys know that this motor is rated only 1,000 rpm more than a standard motor... it's not that much more.

Didn't HRW test it at 26,000? I know the cars real fast....I doubt that's 1000k difference

Imagine if every motor rated was off by around 25%...25% of 20,000 is 5,000....about the discrepancy here (it's actually more).....cuz that's what you're saying we should ignore?

In another forum it was reported that the Policar FF50 had the best performance of that type of motor.
