I picked this up at a swap meet a while ago and decided to have a go at designing and 3D printing a chassis for it. I was just curious to know who made it. There are no mould markings anywhere that I can see. The graphics are peel and stick. Body looks to be about 1980s vintage, but I really don't know as I was out of slot cars at that time. It does look like a slot car body because of the rear mounting post, but it still could be a from model kit. I know Lindberg made a nice 930 but not a slant nose.

I'm stumped. Every time I think I found it, something comes up wrong. Now I'm as curious as you are.

I have the same body molded in green from some slot car stuff my dad gave me. It was a pull back action car that he turned into a slot car sometime in the 80’s.

Hey, much appreciated Lou. That would indeed explain the mounting tube in the rear. The front of what is left of the original chassis looks like it was one piece and hooked into the cutout in the front. Not bad detail / quality for a pull-back toy.
I guess it will remain as "unknown"!
Thanks again,
Peter

That is a nice looking Porsche. Please keep us informed on chassis design and development!

An Update!!
I have had some time to work on this project. I disassembled the body as best as I could - removed the "glass", front driving/fog light lenses and rear deck vent, which broke during its' extraction so I quickly whipped up a new one on my 3D printer. While I was at it I gave my clear PLA a try by printing some new light lenses. I also did a Fuchs wheel insert. I am using one of my 3D printed Better Chassis - a modified PCS32 chassis - with a sidewinder rear end and adjustable front axle height front end.

Fuchs wheel inserts, just to see how they look...

First coat of primer for the body...

I am still not sure what the final colour will be. I plan to use decals that I have on hand from various other builds, so this will be a fantasy livery, but I will do my best to get it as close to something that would have run in IMSA in the 80s.
