https://www.pendleslotracing.co.uk/slot ... acing.htmlYou would think with the popularity of this race class here in North America a slot version would be readily available locally.
The best fun ever is racing roundy round on a short oval, where you race the other cars, not the track.

All the slot car companies that are active now are based in Europe with a base of players that dwarfs the US market. As DK said many times, the Europeans are not especially interested in American's preferences in racing cars. Pioneer was supposed to release a Legends car but that was years ago.

I have participated in groups (at least ten years ago) that raced Womps with Legends style Lexan bodies. I have a friend in NC who is currently doing the same on some of the commercial raceways in the area. Don't know what motor or track width they use for set up specs, but they were fun back when I ran them here on Long Island. We may have set the track width at three inches, which worked very well and took away some of that square chassis dimension. Decorate the bodies well and they look pretty cool flyin' around an 8 lane commercial track or a smaller club track. Not a high buck build, and good bang for yer buck, too!
Just throwin' in my 2 cents worth here... Ernie :>)

Back in the fall Jules from Pioneer hinted this was on the way, with January 2019 as a possible release date.

Thanks to Harry I got a chance to try out a pre-release unpainted version. It was better than I expected and peaked my interest even more. I have photos and a mini review to post when there's news they'll be available. I think they'll do well here and create their own demand in the market, just like the Monte Carlos.
I remain hopeful.

slothead,
How do the Pioneer Legends slot cars run with such a short wheelbase?

The Legend car I ran wasn't as small as I feared. Legend cars are 5/8th versions of 1930's cars, and I worried a 5/8th 1/32 scale cars would actually be smaller than a 1/43 scale car - but however Pioneer arrived at the scale for the car it came out fine. I have a bunch of old skool stock cars made from Limdberg models which are slightly undersized 1/32 scale cars, more like 1/35th scale. The Pioneer Legend car was a good match with them. The Lindberg cars on Artin and Monogram Greenwich Vette chassis were faster and handled better, BUT I've had them for a few years and have had time to set them up and tweak the performance. Plus, all of them have silicone tires (Maxx Traks & Indy Grips) whereas the Legend had stock tires on it. Silicone tires are a big advantage on my slick oval.
I lowered the voltage to 11.4 volts which suited the Legend car just fine and it was fun to drive. You do have to drive a short wheelbase car a little more gently than a regular one (not throw the back end out as much in the turns), but once I get the hang of it I was turning in consistent laps and having fun.
With silicone tires I could race the Legend with the Lindberg cars, but if/when available I'm looking forward to getting 8 of then and creating their own series on my track. If the olive drab one in the picture Jules provided is the first one on the market I hope other liveries follow quickly or blank ones are also available to create unique liveries.

I've done two PP coupes and have a sedan waiting to be finished. I didn't like the wheels that came with the kit, so I got some CB Design F1/Modified rims and used silicone tires on the rears and some standard rubber tires on the front. Plenty of zip in the motors, so lower voltage is more fun. Because they are resin, they are a tad top heavy, but with the wide track they do well. When you fold up the etched metal chassis, take time after you get the alignment right to touch some solder to the guide holder and both front & rear "bull bars". I also believe I swapped out the guides for Slot-it guides.
All i all, they are a fun build and a fun car at the end.

Hey 'slothead', if you have some pull with Pioneer, tell them to hurry up. I'm old you know and time is critical! ;) Been around since the very beginning of slots.

Well, if your not fussy about the fenders on legends, you could just build a dwarf modified from sheet styrene.

Hi Eric:
Just do a 'google', there's all kinds of pictures, information and videos on youtube too.
They even have dwarf modified lites, kind of like 1:1 scale pavement modified.

Or you could just print up your own, these have the 4.6 DOHC modeled in them.

I have no 'pull" with Pioneer other than exchanging posts with Jules on this forum and way back when on the Pioneer website forum. I'm a loyal customer who's waited patiently for many planned releases going back to the first Trans Am Camaros when they pulled manufacturing out of China and set up shop in England. I'm confident Jules is doing everything he can to get the Legends to market as soon as possible.
I just found out they race Legend cars in France, and think this has the potential to be a big winner for Pioneer.
