been having issues with my Difalco Neo DD302 30-Band controller for the last few race nights. cars seemed slow and very very weak brakes, so after the night of racing was done, I was running some laps and found that the white wire to the clip had broken off and had only been working with just a few strands of wire flowing current. my question would that affect the breaking also. did not fix issue till i got home so i could not test.

Having the white wire break does happen sometimes with Difalco controllers, but that should not affect the brakes. Make sure that the wiper arm is making a good contact with the brake contact screw on the circuit board. There is a black wire that connects that to the brake control pot. That pot may be dirty, you can spray contact cleaner into the pot where the connections are and work the pot a half dozen times. While you are at it do the sensitivity pot and the choke pot if your controller has one of those. You should work all of the pots each time you use your controller.

I too have had troubles with my difalco 30 band controller. Intermittent loss of brakes that was traced to a broken wire not in the controller but at the relay.

I have a Difalco Genesis and that has a bypass relay in the brake circuit. I never use full brakes, so I leave the relay switched off. If your controller also has that feature and you need to use it from time to time it would be a good idea to enable the relay and make sure that you get full brakes. If the sensitivity pot gets dirty you power will be very erratic.
