How do you remove the bar magnets from Scalextric cars without breaking the hold down tabs??

Remove the body, and you can flex the chassis a bit to release. Good to have screwdriver there to help pluck it out. On some models you can just push it out.

I cut the tab if it doesn't play nice, I won't ever reinstall it so no issue. :)

Since I run all my cars on wood, I don't worry about the magnets. I leave the magnets in, why remove them and take the, Ham Handed, chance of breaking the chassis.

If you do break the tab while removing the magnet, and decide later to reinstall the magnet, just use a little Goop or Shoo Goo to secure it.
