Carrera Can Am which is faster?

I understand S can motors come in some of them and the thin line FF type come in others.

Is there an advantage of one over the other, in terms of speed/handling?

Our racing - routed wood, 80' road course, copper tape, no mag.

We have some of each in our group, and will be starting to race with them for the first time in couple of weeks, what can we expect to see?
Are the differences significant?

We have the Porsche 917 and McClaren M20 .
They race together very well.
The 917 is faster down the straight but the M20 is more "nimble" in the curves and feels lighter.
Put on some aftermarket tires of your choice and go !

Johnny pretty much nailed it.

When you start the tuning process, you can really even up the field pretty tight. The Porsche has those big meathooks on the back and these really help the car.

But on my smaller track, I have a Lola that is pretty well balanced.

Let us know your groups findings please.

As a magnet addict on 130 feet of Scally track with an assortment of R1,2 and 3 curves and minimal straights with only Paul's tyres as the only "tune-up":

Lola T222 = 14.1 seconds
Porsche 917 = 14.4 seconds
Maclaren M20 = 14.1 seconds

with these times averaged over 6 runs, 3 lane one and 3 lane two.

So pretty darn even!!
