So my Scalex Challenger came in yesterday. So I thought I would share some quick photos. Ill leave the review for David R but heres some quick info. I havnt had a chance to run it properly yet but I did give it a run for a few quick laps. Straight out of the box Im thinking it will run comparable to scalex camaros & mustangs. Some decent rubber on the back & some body float will really unleash the best like the Camaros & mustangs.

There is no Classic Wax sponser on the front fender, which is a shame. You cant knock scalex for leaving it off as Posey ran without Classic wax on the car at some races, Mid Ohio comes to mind.

The wheelbase is longer than the Camaros & mustangs. The width of the rear axle, outside of tire to outside of tire(Is that wheel track?????) The rear is way narrower than the Camaro. Which is strange as there is loads of space left under guards. If you are game you could put a few spacers in the rear axle to space the wheels out a bit. Or you could add some larger rubber under the back easily. The front width is the same as Camaro. Theres loads of room under the front guards to space the front wheels out as well.

The front spoiler is huge. Bright orange/red to. Posey did run this coloured spoiler at some races. To my eyes when the cars sitting on the track the front end looks high off the ground. Im guessing thats why the spoiler is so large. It would of been nice if the front of the car sat lower to the track & inturn the spoiler would be smaller.

The color. I sprayed my RMS Challenger in Testors/model masters Limelight/Sublime. The color of my RMS Challenger is very different to the Scalex. I was always happy with the colour of the Model Master spray but looking at it next the the Scalex it almost looks to green. Im actually thinking now thw 1:1 is somewhere in between the 2.

So theres a few quick points. Ill leave the review for David as I said. I maybe sounded a bit negative in my post but Im happy with it. I guess its easier to post the negative :) Its long overdue this Challenger & its great to add another T/A to the mix. It really does look great running around the track.

Heres a few photos of the Scalex next to the RMS Challenger. Notice the colour & the size difference. You have to excuse my RMS, its seen alot of laps & im in the middle of cleaning it up & tuning it. I had it in pieces & had to put it together for some pics.

Greg, A quick question. Does the challenger come with separate front and rear valances rather than have them as part of the chassis? If it is separate, is the chassis sandwiched between the rear valance and the body? Nice looking car Sir.

Im trying to put the chassis back on & its a really tight fit in the body. So tight I cant get it back together.

Now I see. Scalextric is still making them like the previous cars. I makes it a little hard to get body float. But heck, we've been dealing with that for years. Thanks for taking her apart to give us a peak at the innards. I know that you will get her back together.

Ok I got it back together, Damn its tight, incredible. Ill probably use a similar technique to what David R did to his Camaro 70.5 regarding the valances. That rear Valance to mighty long as it may be hard. I might wait for David to do his first before I cut mine up.

Quick note about the front grille & bumper. It clips into the chassis & when the car is screwed together the grille is sandwiched in there. The grille is not glued or anything. The front spoiler is the same design as the Camaro 70.5.

Thanks for the pics and info Greg, the car looks really good and I cant wait to get one of these...Funny how you mention the color difference as I always thought the Testor paint was close too but looking at it next to the Scaley it is way off. I have to give David props though, as after all the years he has been making that body it looks VERY good next to the Scaley version. Just goes to show what a great resin caster he really is!

Greg - thanks for the pictures! That looks really good! I cannot wait to get this car and the Cougar! And Lee, you are too nice...but it has been nice racing one for what...8 years now ;) ?

Great shots with it apart - I suspected that was the setup with the chassis - I'll fix that in no time. Strange that the wheels aren't wider, but a good set of PPG PGT-22104R2 should fatten it up nicely.

As for the color - Sublime is a tough one. Not easy to get right and they look like they did.

My son Cooper fell in love with the Posey Challenger at Lime Rock Park this year and I
can't wait to surprise him on Christmas morning with the slot version.. I'll be making a
few changes before wrapping it up though.. I ordered the decal set and will be putting the
Classic Wax decals on the front fenders and repainting the front air dam silver.. I want it
to look as close as possible to the actual car he saw live this summer.

Excellent info mate and thanks for sharing! Mine is on the way over, like you, very excited about this release, we finally have a nice choice of cars in T/A now :)

Scalextric has really done a nice job with this and I'm glad to see them close the gap on another T/A car.

I'll end up getting one, but why the huge orange florescent snow plow up front?? Also, does anyone else think the front fenders look a bit "slab sided" and thus making the hood appear too flat looking? I'm not really a "rivet counter" and overall the car looks nice, but that front shape just seams off.
