I was hoping to order the Scalextric Challenger, Cougar and the Slot.it McLaren at the same time...preferably on Cyber Monday if there were any sales.

Anyone getting these soon on this side of the pond?

Well....

Mine turned up from the UK yesterday.

I think everyone on here knows I prefer to buy ex-US, have been that way for many years. Great price, excellent service, cheap shipping, my dealer looks after me.

I have to pose the question, What on earth is going on with the US distributorships in these brands of models?????!!

Are they wanting to do the lemming or what? I just dont get why they arent calling the manufacturers on the current supply situation?

We hope to see them anytime now.

The place I ordered from has them listed as backordered which would seem to indicate some of them already arrived. It could be the guy writing the note didn't have a good grip on the English language. Smoking in the boys room that day, right?

To me an even more interesting question: what has happened to the Pioneer Sunoco Camaros? Seems like Inaslot got some like >2 months ago and that's it: nothing for the North American market at all. Curiously enough it would appear that Inaslot still has some stock.

What spooks me is something Jules said on HRW. He said that all the manufacturers were moving to a crazy system to lessen the ordinary risks of doing business. According to him, nothing but pre-orders would mean anything, and the limits of a production run would be based on these pig-in-a-poke, unreviewed cars that are announced but not built yet, rather than normal, logical marketing plans and research that includes things like avoiding the insane body mistakes Scaley has made lately. That makes us all a bunch of hungry dogs in the yard, and he holds a single piece of meat. Its insulting, particularly as these are the people we built with our patronage over the years. I dismissed what he said along with that strange story about shipping across the Atlantic until Scaley came up with a winner in this Cougar and Challenger offering (I hope its a winner, but who knows? hence, the nonsense of the crazy system he described).

I was just told that the cars should be in port next week so depending on customs, we could see these with in the next 2 weeks. I believe....together.

Please don't get spooked by me Robert. Back on October 3rd, I said:-

"With the sole exception of Carrera, I think the days of the maker producing models in the 1000's has now all but gone. You guys have enough slot cars. You have been, and will continue to get, more and more selective about what you buy."........."With this particular model [Sunoco Camaro], all dealers placed their orders last October. There are enough to go round with a few left over."

For the record, I did not say "..nothing but pre-orders would mean anything.."

Actually, it was Ember that said, on October 3rd, "Even Scaley are only producing to pre-orders now. It's a sign of the times, I'm afraid. There are just too many players battling for a spot in a very small team."

After that post, you said "From what I read here tonight, I can tell you this- I'll never do a pre-order again, and I will urge everyone I have contact with to do the same. People have been warning me for over a year that this was the way things were going, and I remained faithful anyway. Fool, I suppose."

Just wanted to set you straight there.

Yup. I said that. And it is something that Scalextric/Hornby have said. They are relying on pre-orders to indicate numbers so as not to over produce by large amounts. It's a difficult market place and a glut of models out there doesn't do anyone any good in the long run.

Sure as a purchaser you may think it terrific to see stock heavily discounted but you can be sure somewhere along the food chain someone is suffering.
