Do SCX axles have knurling to hold the wheels on?
Specific cars in question are AAR' cudas and Dodge Charger.
Thanks.

SCX axles are NOT knurled at the wheel. At least none of mine are including both of my track 'Cudas.

If you're planning to mount aftermarket wheels on the SCX axles, you should know that their axles are slightly larger than 3/32", and will be very difficult to mount the new wheels onto (if you can at all).

In my experience, there is nothing wrong with SCX axle/wheel set ups as they are the best of the big 4 manufacturers. They are always round, smooth rolling, and without excessive play in the bushings. There is not much to be gained by trading out the axle sets in these cars other than if you want to experiment with wheel offset/ track which a set screw wheel allows.

Ditto on dungeonracers post.
Trying to fit carrera wheels on scx axles as I did on my Nomad, did indeed cause
the first wheel to split ever so slightly. I then hogged out the second one with a drill
bit by hand, this allowed a good press fit and no splitting.
Note - I only removed about a thou from the wheel !!

I was going to true the wheels and PGT tires on my Razor but the SCX has spherical bearings.
At this time I do not have any plastic bearing to split and snap on the axle, so thought of pulling the wheels and using Slot It bearing for the truing process.
Looks like I'll just put the tires on and give it a run.

Also wanted to narrow the axles a bit since the tires hang outside the body.

A HA
NOW I understand the reason for the question.
Yep the bushings are different.
And a complete surprise to me that they would not fit the razor.
I do not own one YET, but ,that is good info to know.
Does seem like like an easy fix (split a plastic bushing )
When you get some !

The spherical bushing will sit in the axle V of the Razor fine. It just takes a bit of care in placement.
