Another Camaro - Finishing touches done

Ok, I always wanted one of the Bob Jane Camaros by Scalextric.
But I missed out when they were new and now they are commanding silly prices.

So I got a Revell Snaptite kit and a Pioneer Chassis and made this -










I used the interior from the kit, by cutting out the back seat and boxing the area with plasticard to fit the motor, made the cage from solder (it does go to the back too) and got the decals from Patto. The body posts are styrene tube reinforced with an outer brass sleeve and superglued and then reinforced with 2 part epoxy.
The Pioneer wheelbase was spot on but I had to take about a mm off each axle.
I'm just waiting on a suitable driver figure and 69 Scaley Camaro front spoiler to turn up and fit them, I could have made one from plasticard, but for 4 bucks, well I'll just wait!
I was thinking about minilites but, the 5 spokes look ok to me. I'm pretty happy with this one :D . Although I think I can make the next one better. I'm learning something each time.

BTW - there are loads more decals in the Pattos set, to do any variation of the Jane Camaro for virtually any race, It's just I like this one.

Ted - Really nice job with this one! I've always loved the look of the Bob Jane cars. The Scalextric ones are going for silly money now. I recently sold one and actually undercut the market as I just couldn't see gouging someone for it.

That is the best Snap Tight conversion I have seen. I had both Jane Camaros at one point but sold them both on Ebay. Wish I still had them but the money was too good to pass up. BTW what red did you use for the paint. It's outstanding. Jim

It was a pretty straight forward conversion in the end.
Jim it's Just Tamiya TS8 Red with clear. Not quite Hugger Orange, but a nice red.
I'll post another pic when Bob and the front spoiler are fitted.

Take a bow, that is superb. What you and some other guys on this board (Dundee Denny springs to mind) are doing with the humble SnapTite is a revelation. One question regarding the paint on your Camaro, is that air-brushed or spray-can - beautiful finish either way. It looks too good to race, have you track-tested it yet?

Boyz are just beginning a build on a T/A Snap Camaro for a "Slots N Suds" race in Granger IN mid March.

They are thinking red and something............, powered by Pioneer as well, to race against the Scally's.

Your red really pops so the Boyz are excited and firms their choice of a red Camaro.
