Amazing set of photos and great photography too. My Dad was at several of those races and took color slide film that are on racingsportscars.com, specifically the 1959 Santa Barbara races. There are 1958 and 1960, but I couldn't find the 1959 set in these. Would be nice to see the same race from another, closer to the racers perspective.

very good post, look through some of the ones I went to and he was standing real close to where I was at(turn 7). though pictures were in b/w I remember the car colors and some of the drivers.

I'm going to look to see if there are photos from the 1971 Can-am at Laguna Seca, I was there!!! :dance:

WOW!! I had the pleasure of meeting Dave Friedman briefly at the Monterey Historic Races at Laguna Seca, California in 2003.
He was there as one of the many automotive personalities that FORD had invited as part of the 100th Anniversary of FORD Racing.
That is an event I will never forget. Ace photog Jesse Alexander was also there with his incredible library of vintage motorsport photos.
