The Ford GT40 is one of the most famous cars in Le Mans history, having won the 24 Hours four times in a row. In 1966 it was with the MK II version, in 1967 with the MK IV, in 1968 and 1969 with the first one, MK I.

It was built to compete against Ferrari, who had won Le Mans six times in a row from 1960 to 1965. The development of 'Mk I' was carried mainly by Ford Advanced Vehicle in England, joined in 1965 by Carroll Shelby. It was a car built for racing, but also for road circulation; the name 'GT40' comes from the height from ground, which is 40 inches.
The car had a steel and aluminum semi-monocoque chassis, a body made of fiberglass and a V8 engine, originally 4.7 liter, than enlarged to a 4.9 liter. The blue and orange car managed to win the race with a 5-lap lead (67 km) after 24 hours of racing.

The GT40 was also the first car in Le Mans history to win the race more than once, with the same chassis #1075, in 1968 and 1969.

In 1968 the Ford GT40 achieved its third consecutive victory, with car n.9 driven by Mexican Pedro Rodriguez and Belgian Lucien Bianchi.

When I returned to slot racing about 10 - 11 years ago, the first car I bought (other than the ones that came with the track) was the Scaley #9 Ford GT40. That car is long gone, but now I have all the Slot.it GT 40s. The history of this car really does make it special. I will certainly be adding this to the stable.

The Scaley #9 GT40 was also one of my first 1/32 slot car purchases. I still have it and before the slot.It GT40s came out I ran it so much that I wore a set of tires down to the point where the gear touched the track. Now it sits on the shelf most of the time and rarely gets any attention.

I'm in a similar spot. I have lots of Fly and Scaley GT40s, probably almost all of them since its a favorite car of mine, and only a few Slot.its. But that Gulf livery is a sucker punch for me. I have it in Scaley and Fly, plus one I did from an old Aurora Superchallenger I picked up.

I am looking forward to getting that one. I have many of the Slot It GT40s and this one would be a worthy addition. Trying not to overlap between my Fly GT40s and this one so this will be a welcome addition.

Beautiful looking car a true legend I also have the 2 Scalextric cars both Nos 9 & 6 good cars they both are but when Slot It bought out
the No 6 Gulf GT40 I bought that awesome running car & probably my quickest Slot It just as fast as my NSR Porsche 917 Gulf No 20
so this car the No 9 would be the perfect stable mate I am sure of that

Now that's a sweet looking car, I always loved my Scaley version. but this somehow just looks more purposeful.

I bought the #9 car Thursday and it looks really great. I don't know whether it is due to all the PG tire rubber that has worked into the road surface or maybe slot.It has softened their stock tire material but this car straight from the box with only a little lubrication and a light sanding of the tires has more grip than previous releases and is smooth as silk.

Did not grab it yet.

But I am really enjoying the prior releases.

Slot.it has hit a lot of home runs...but this car running next to the McLaren on one side and Chappy on the other is a slot car grand slam.

Tomorrow is going to be one sweet day for me.

#1 is that I get a chance to get out and do some slot car racing. Last weekend I had "Grandpa Duty" and I just could not justify it. The weekend before my back was spasming and I was not up to it.

But tomorrow, I get out and play, err I mean race some of the cars I've been working on.

Not only that, but a little bird told me there is a #9 Slot.It GT40 sitting there with my name on it. Woot-woot!

It will be a beautiful morning.
