Thanks for the track report Bob.

Ever see one of these and wonder, "Why the hell didn't they do that livery first?"

That is the car they should have done to get our attention.

The red/white Vodafone model is Cambiocorsa Coupe, a 2003 race car, made by Scalextric in 2004. Cat # C2504.

The McCafe model is Cat # C3388 from 2012/13. Driver Renaud Kuppens won the 2012 Maserati World Series Champion title in that car.

That explains a lot, but 8 years Maserati built the same car? That by itself is amazing.

Hmmm - I think that is the one that my dealer just got in last week - with that track report, I may have to give that a closer look as it may make a good running for our touring class! :)

Wow, I wouldn't have noticed that this new Maser is a different model from the older one but looking at them side by side in your photo I can see that the nose, front spoilers, headlights, rocker panels, A-pillars, windshield, roofline, rear window glass and rear wing are all a bit different. Nice cars!

I was about to say that while similar, they do look different enough. Nice car either way and I do like the livery!

I don't know... I only see a difference in the headlight and tail light shape and the spoiler. Its the same car, isn't it? Not that that takes away from it at all.

Roofline and side windows look different to me.

Notice that the windshield on the Vodafone car wraps around more than on the McCafe car. It also has a greater rake. The McCafe car roofline has a more pronounced curve - it rises to a slightly higher peak and slopes more steeply towards the rear deck. And compare also the rear window glass on the two cars - all four corners, but particularly the bottom two corners are more rounded on the Vodafone car. I haven't counted any rivets :lol: There are other differences. These are two completely different cars.

I see those, but those are really tiny changes. Maserati seems to have banked a lot on keeping the Trofeo going. That's a familiar pattern in Europe. I hope it works. There have been too many great names that died lately.

Well, the new Maserati appears to be a Gran Turismo, though it may be called a Trofeo in Europe. Definitely different from the older Trofeo.

Did you see it at Goodwood?

Not this particular one, but we've been up close with the Gran Turismos here in the US. They appear to be the same car. :)
