I didn't want to hijack the Slot.it Gulf thread, but it got me thinking... I can't remember the last time I saw a Gulf branded gas station. What happened to Gulf? Who swallowed them up? With the brand having such widespread recognition I am surprised it has gone away. Maybe it is a regional aberration, but in my part of the country (southeastern mountains) there are no Gulf stations.

My dad always used Good Gulf No Nox gas, but they had disappeared by the time I started buying gas...... :think:

You can find them in most state - under their new name "Chevron". Gulf & Standard Oil of California merged in 1984 to form "Chevron".

Funny thing is I have always used Chevron products in both cars and motorcycles as they just seem to run better.

Yep, Jeremy is right. We had a new Gulf station open up in Jefferson City, MO.

Check the Merchandise section on their web site.............or don't if you don't want to spend money.....

I think the Gulf folks have to ask Lee for permission these days when they paint stuff. The competition is over and Lee won.
