I'm trying to set up a Carrera Cuda as my 1st no-mag car. Now I realize that it will never be a Slot-it car and that it is a Hemi Cuda and handles accordingly. :lol: However I have managed to get it around my oval at a somewhat "reasonable" pace and for the most part keep the shiny side up. I have the car set up with 14gr of weight and was wondering if this is about right or is it a bit excessive?

For staters, toss most if not all the weight and get a good set of medium grip tires. Replace(or remove for now)
the interior with a light weight one, stabilize the front axel, set the guide height, lower the body, widen the rear
track as much as possible....

.....You picked a doozy of a car for your first go ........'cause there is more to do, but you'll get there.

Thanks Jesla. Ya I know, I figured that if I can get this 1 right then the others will all be easy :lol: . Anywho body lowered, guide set, XPG 22125 on CB design wheels. I messed up slightly on the wheel and went with a 17 x8 and it's sitting butt high. I have a set of 15 x 8 coming. Never thought to ditch the interior but I was wondering about its weight. After I put the XPGs on I tried the car with no weight and it acted like a traditional Hemi Cuda with slicks, a 3/4" wheelie and an instant deslot. :lol:

XPG's could be a problem, to much grip and it's rolling pig no matter what you do.....

Getting the car about 90% OK is pretty straight forward. Once you have selected the tyres of choice drive the car close to the limit, and then over it. How did the car come out of the slot. Roll over, slide, or front end plough?

Roll over = add weight as low as possible. And/or increase the track. and/or remove weight from up high.

Slide = the opposite of what I wrote above

Plough = supeglue the tread surface of the front tyres so they have zero grip. Add a little weight directly behind the guide.

That should get you close. Its fine tuning after that.

Thanks Doc. that's pretty much where I'm at but as this is my 1st. attempt I was concerned about how much weight I'm using and what might be considered "ballpark normal".

Thanks Jeremy I have that but wasn't using it, :doh:. By using it I was able to remove 4 gr. NCM I figure if I get it sorted out that the rest should be easy :) , besides it's not even that great of a magnet car :lol: .

Well spotted Embs. All that science training has not gone to waste. Copper is not ferromagnetic hence magnets will not work on most wood tracks. There is however dedate as to whether it is diamagnetic or paramagnetic but I digress....
