Harry and I both have used their rondels and numbers on hard bashing oval cars of one sort or another. I approve of the product. I didn't know about the chrome, though. Be sure to get back to us on this.

Anything's got to be better than dealing with the BMF. It and I have serious disagreements.

For chrome I use an Edding silver paint pen. It's available in different thicknesses and much easier than a brush.

Duplicolor Chrome spray paint. Spray it over flat black for stunning results.

Interesting looking stuff. The chrome paint is a great idea for cars with separate bumpers. But for Snap tite kits and Resin's the sticky stuff is well worth a look. Even better if Dave's payed for the experimental stuff first :)

I also used the Duplicolor spray by brush. Just spray a spot on a piece of paper, dip your brush and paint. Works fine as long as you don't let it settle too much before using it. But you wouldn't anyway.

I actually don't think that is it. I believe they changed something in the adhesive. LOTS of forum posts about this on model boards.

I was told keeping it in the fridge solves the adhesion problem.

Ember - I'd heard that too and tried it. It didn't work for the two sheets I'd tried.

I've not tackled the new sheet yet. There is a glue they sell to revamp the advert. My biggest problem is that it doesn't form to curves well.

I hope this chrome striping works.

I have something else up my sleeve to try. I will report back when I've tested it.

I've got some 'foil paper' to try. Actually, that's a big misnomer as it's not paper at all. It's a plastic or celophane foil. I first came across it for use in manicures instead of nail polish, but the last time I was in the craft store waiting for Nana to buy her wool and assorted crafty bits I noticed a display of the same stuff in large sheets.



The part to be coated in metal is coated in a contact adhesive. When that is dry a piece of foil paper is laid over it and rubbed down. The foil will stick to the adhesive and the carrier sheet can be removed. I've not spent much time experimenting with it yet other than to touch up a couple of spots where the chrome had missed on a Jag tail light.

The bad news is that I just found out that Jones Tones is no longer making it. But there is bound to be another source. I wonder if plastic foil wrapping paper would work.
