I'm with you. I haven't looked forward to Scalextric cars in a very long time, but these are too nice to pass up.

I like classic GP cars but it doesn't do me much good to buy them as I always break them. :(

I'll get a couple. These are fun cars, at least the others are and I am betting these will deliver the same.

We don't have a class that races these (deemed too fragile) - but I still think I am going to have to see about getting some of these! If nothing else, I can enjoy them in "practice" time running no magnet like I do with a couple of my newer ones. :D
(Scalextric is getting a lot of my $ this year!)

I've saved my pennies for these. Scalextric is going to get a very large chunk of my money this year!

I have the wingless Jim Clark Lotus and the Gurney Eagle which as slot cars is enough for me. Some of these newer ones I would like to have either a 1:24 or 1:18 scale model of to sit on my shelves but like footscoot says they are just too fragile for day to day racing.

I race the snot out of them. The key is lower voltage and I run PG Tires and the M/T motor. PERFECT car, and zero broken parts. Would that be boring on a 30 foot straight? Probably, but I only have a 24 foot straight...with a kink ;)

What I want to know is, the cars with the high wings wouldn't they be prone to being top-heavy and tipping over? The cars are narrow so there isn't much room for weight to keep them from tipping. Any thoughts on this??

I have packed some modeling clay inside the body to give them a little more heft. Not much, but it helps.

After re-motoring and replacing the tires, I haven't had need for weight. Not sure about the wings, but doubt they put much weight on the car as small and thin as plastic is. I'll have to road test one for sure!

LOL...sure that is if you plan on wrecking... with those cars yes you must use options to prevent wrecking
1. be a better driver/racer
2. better tires and maybe an extra magnet
3. slower motor/turn power down
4. let it be a shelf queen

HA HA...yes some believe wrecking is racing...lol. My racing buddies at times say that I am not pushing hard enough (channeling David Hobbs...Push Man Push!!) but I counter that if I wreck most likely all is lost because they are just as good if not better racers than I.
