LMM 935 Advice needed

Yes, this does have a Slot.It spur gear, and as a general rule, LMMs sidewinders are much easier to deal with than their inlines (and this is a sidewinder). Mine is staying in the box, so I'm sorry, no hands-on experience to give you on this particular car.

This is one of their newest cars, and I've seen quite a bit of improvement over the last few years from these guys. That said, they do have a well-earned reputation for taking some good components and some good ideas, and turning them into spetacular feats of WTF.

Be prepared for a struggle, especially at the front end of the car.

OK, cool. In any event, they aren't much for racing. Just about every LMM car I've worked with is 99 grams and up. They can be made to go well, but for the same amount of work, you should be able to make other cars go even better.

If the goal is to race a Stommelen car, there are a bunch of cars he raced that can be found as slot cars. You might need to do a paint job, but he raced Porsche 910s, 907s (short and long tail), 906s, 908s (short and longtail, 908/2), 936s, CK5 Alfa T33s, Ford Capris (like the SRC car), etc.

If you need something Group 5-ish, he's driven BMW 2800s, basically like the Fly BMW 3.5 CSL with the rear wing cut off. Or you could do a repaint on a Fly 935 (I know, those are K3s...),

Yeah, that's tough, being limited to Gr 5.

Sidenote: When I was a kid, I was an exchange student in Germany. The guy who lived next door to us in Cologne was a F1 hydroplane champion, and was friends with Stommelen (they were both sponsored by Liqui Moly).

Oh yeah, I do have the pink 935 K3, but I wasn't really planning on getting rid of it -- unless there's something pretty interesting to trade. :)

....c'mon Kurt, the 935 is the breakout LMM. Tame the front or don't, mine is
the quickest with the least work OTB of the 935's I have. It's less work OTB
than most Fly's and as pretty as a Racer.

1980 was along time ago.
My brother has the Racer 935, he chipped it for D132 and is slowly getting it running good. That yellow angle winder has a "unfair advantage" in the no mag department. His wing got broken off, those are some spindly sticks holding it on.
