TGIF - Finishing up

Well another week in the books. With new releases being on the slow side it has allowed me to work on other projects that are finally close to completion. Only to open the door to others :)
Started this week off right with HRW Jim coming down and doing some much needed fender banging. As usual a good slot fight leads to motivating me to finish those "roundtuits" sitting over in the Abyss. So now the shelf has a couple more cars that need finishing up.
Our Grandkids are coming this weekend to spend time with us. They like "Grandma & Papaw's place" and hopefully we get time to do some racing. :)
Hope you folks have time to sit back and race a car or three.

Sounds like a good weekend ahead. :)
Track building on tap for Saturday and Sunday. Gotta take advantage of this empty garage until the Mini comes back home.

Where does the time go??? Trying to follow Harry's lead and reorganize the toy room. It's more of a mess now than when I started.

Finally getting around to building the driver's stations for the restored track. I've been running all four lanes with alligator clips on bare wires since Thanksgiving.

Well what a coinkadink...I am doing new wiring as well.
Doing my timing and making some "scuff stations" for the MIDMO. Have to improve this track to meet the strict O.M.F.G qualifications so we can keep our sanctioning another year :)

Still in the same place as last Friday. Too many things going on to work on slot cars, which is highly unusual for me. I did manage to rake some leaves earlier this week, and now I'm paying for it. I should have known better, but I just couldn't look at them anymore. :)

Busy, Busy, Busy ... Between getting ready for a road trip & Bomber Training has kept me going.
I started a new box for the trip & got a couple of new big cars to smash up while I'm gone.
As far as the Bomber Training goes you've all seen pictures of the rule book Tom carries around with him.

So, the big news of the year in a string of major life changes over the past two years (new job, kids leaving home, etc) - we have sold our home and are shopping for another house this weekend. It took quite a bit of discussion to arrive at this conclusion and while we LOVE where we currently live, there are some very compelling reasons to move now.
We are moving north about 20-25 minutes to Castle Rock CO. to get me closer to work, get my wife closer to a new job, cut down on the amount of house work, yard work, mortgage payments, etc. It has to have space for me to resin cast and build cars and have a track. So, hopefully I find one with the right basement or the PDR will have to be re-born for a third time. As it is, moving the track will be problematic - most of the scenery will not survive :( Of course if I get a completely unfinished 1000 square foot basement, can you imagine the shenanigans that could go on with that! :auto-layrubber:
An aside: Castle Rock is where the Continental Divide Raceway was that my track pays homage to. I suppose that is fitting enough.
We have several nice homes we are seeing this weekend that fit the bill, the only question is: Can I live close-by to other people again? 12 years in a rural area is tough to un-learn.
Let it begin!

Well I am contemplating building my own track. I plan on a 10 x 5 layout for 2 lanes of 1/32 cars.
Went to the local Home Depot and Lowes to price the materials.
I plan on having a 2' x4' frame. I found 7/32' self adhesive tape at Hobby Lobby.
So....can I buy a Carrera track that has power to it and use it to power my track ?
My idea is to have it framed strong enough so that I can attach cables and have it standing against the wall when not in use.
I called a guy on this form who lives in Philly and he was/is a TREMENDOUS help. TY Doug.
Best wishes from Balmy Buffalo !

My mistake, you said something about tape and now I realize you mean to fasten down your Carrera track.
Just stick with the components that come in the set, you will be good to go.

Actually I want to make my own track. I was wondering what is the best way to get the track powered.
I look forward to the challenge of doing this project !! Really I do !! LOL
But could I take apart the portion of the Carrera track and somehow use that as the power source?
The power source you sent me the link to got me lost. I appreciate ALL the help that I receive on this forum. Great advice from great people.

Its been too long since I set this track up. I spent 20 minutes trying to remember which wire to put the circuit breaker on today. I thought about it so long I am nervous about whether I did it right. I should have this down by now. I've done this so many times over the years. At least I got the "line" and "load" sides right. By the way, I put it on the white wire, the same wire that connects to the white controller wire. For god's sake, if I'm wrong tell me quick! At this point being embarrassed is not a problem.
