Yeah, these were GREAT cars back then. And for open wheeled cars, they were pretty robust, and even had a steering front end which was pretty cool.

The NC2 motor they had back then was about perfect. Hopefully they put the NC5 at most in these, and not some rocket motor.

Rumor has it that Ninco has changed hands, sold to a toy company in Spain. This might mean good things -- new thinking, for one, and an intent to invest and possibly reinvent the brand. I hope so. Cars like this are nice from a nostalgic point of view, and they really are outstandingly fun to drive. Unfortunately, cars like this won't sell at their prices, not with all that's available today.

I heard this same thing and I hope you are right Kurt. Because models like these are perfect $29.95 models...not $70.00

Scalextric new F1's are around 50, Carrera 34.

Seems like every company is playing the nostalgic F1 card this year.

I actually just got my first Ninco F1 given to me. Actually my first F1 of any brand. Bucket loads of fun. Great drive. Magnets out, change the tyres, nothing more to do. Love the steering mechanism, also my first. But the NC2 is my all time favourite motor.

Would love to be able to pay only $29.95 for slot cars, but given the parts and assembly that's completely unreasonable. Even allowing Chinese manufacture.

RRP on Ninco has actually come down here. Originally they were A$79 now A$65. Still, tend to think they're better value than Scalex at A$55 as they need less work.

I don't know...I am only paying $33 on average for new Carrera. Cars that have full interiors and team paint. So $29.95 for a 14 year old mold with no team licensing? Wishful thinking I suppose. :) I guess $39.95 would be about fair.

Will agree on the comparison of Scalextric, aside from model choices. Scaley has let the quality bar slide down while the MSRP slid up.

Hey Kurt, what about those Scaley F1's Mark and Guy did up? I had the pleasure of trying some on his last visit and they are sugar on wheels SA-WEET :)

You never know what the Spaniards will do next, especially after "holiday". Who knows? Maybe a huge turn around that could bring the brand back into the mainstream like it used to be. Since I really like the models themselves all I can do is hope.

Well here comes the Ninco roller coaster… I was excited to hear these were going to be re-released because my intro to the 1:32 side of the hobby was the Ninco F1 set, and I wish I'd kept those two cars. Then there was the fear of the pricing. Then hearing a new company had taken over Ninco there was hope. Then the reality of the pricing! LOL, as always I'll wait around for deals and strike then if they come. At $70 or so, there are just too many other viable options for my slot $$…like 2 Carrera's for example.

It's really sad that the best bargain I've gotten on Ninco's have come from over seas. Top Slots n trains had some nice Ninco Sport cars that came over to me for less than $35 shipped (Austin Healey and E-Type Jag to name a couple), they had/have a few Ninco1's that would be even cheaper. That's about 1/2 of what US retailers can let them go for (typically), and much less than others 'blowout' Ninco deals.

So for $45 you can buy a scalextric slot GT car or other scalextric. But you end up spending as much money as you would for a slot.it car to get it "right"

Now this Ninco will be about $65 US money with little work needed is what I'm hearing? Supply and demand as there isn't other manufactures making such cars. How could they sell a car for $29.95 and make money and give us a quality product. Are most of the guys responding here scratch builders anyway? That would make sense not wanting to spend this much money when you can make/enjoy doing a car on your own.

We all are frugal with our money with certain products, clothes for me which I hate spending money on. Spend $65 on a car you'll enjoy for at least a few years or wait 6 -12 months to save $5-10 and not having fun with it :banana-dance:

Slot.it might be great bang for buck but they are a bit limited in class offerings.

I'm full of what-if's this morning...

What if Ninco had held their prices to "normal" levels and classics and these F1 cars were available at $45. Would NINCO have survived better?

The F1's are great cars and a blast to drive. However, with others making similar cars at much better prices and in some cases better quality, I'd be hard pressed to get any.
