2014 Most Collectable Car

There have been a mass of publicity around releases for 2014 (some will make it, others will not).

As a collector a lot of thought goes in to deciding what will and won't be the most collectable models from the ranges announce..... will it be:

- Scalextric Legends / V8's
- Sideways Group 5 / Silverline
- Pioneer Camaro / Legends / Cuda
- Slot.It
- Avant Slot Red Bull Trucks
- Cartrix
- Ninco GTR

If your a collector, you certainly are collecting the wrong cars/brands. LMM, TopSlot,
and Racer should be near the top of the list. If your are wanting to profit then you have
yourself a somewhat correct list

Some of the brands listed are little more than toys next to the 'collector' brands.......

It's an interesting question. To me, it's collectable when it sells for higher than retail price. So brand, quality, performance, looks, exclusivity.....it's all moot, anything can be collectable. The question, though, is how sustainable their collectability is. Many cars have reached that point where their secondary market price was higher than retail, but at some point, most of these prices have come back to earth.

The thing about Racer cars is that they never become collectable by that definition. They don't demand a higher-than-retail price, and that means that demand isn't greater than supply. Wonderful cars, and near the top by anyone's standards, but not collectable (but they do make for a nice collection).

Out of the list from miveson, one of the most consistently hard to find and in-demand cars is the Avant Slot RAID truck range. Another one is the Ninco JGTC cars, which were up to three times their retail price for a while. These cars are very hard to replace, and even if somebody else made them, the Ninco versions would still bring high prices. I suspect that this next round of Scalextric vintage GP cars will be hot, both short and long term. But there are lots of ways to look stupid when speculating, and I've pretty much found them all. :lol:

Most collectible is very open to interpretation. Most desirable? Hardest to find?
Really it's the cars that nearly no one will ever even see or hear much about and those are the cars done for special events that slot companies do. You might have a production run of around 100 cars or less.

I'd say that the Slot.it Led Zepplin McLaren M8D will become a valuable collector car.

I think if you look beyond the car and livery , at the technology aswell, the Slot it 4 wheel, drive Audi R18 quattro may have a chance. Most of the mass manufacturers will do some limited run stuff, and then bring out the same cars later, in different livery etc. Carrea with the 904, scalextric with the Lotus and Eagle etc.
Just my 2 cents which may go up or down depending on the market.

Don't discount the V8 Supercars on the list folks. Those things are produced in relatively small numbers and are gobbled up by both racers and collectors. Particular liveries achieve some big dollars and not always just the old ones. They are sought after in quite a few places outside Oz, although sales are supposedly limited to Oz due to their commission by the Australian Scalex distributor.

I did NOT see this for myself, however there is a report running around about the new Slot.It Toyota 88C in the "Minolta" livery. Here is the statement:

"This is another great car, but has anyone else noticed that the decal on the sides reads "YUSEN AIRGARGO" while the decal on the splitter reads "YUSEN AIRCARGO" ?"

Could this be like the 1909 SVDB Penny? That is now selling for about $1200, or 1200 times it's initial price. I have to figure this out . . . . . $64.99 x 1200 = $77988.00. I might have to buy a couple of them.
