Building a fleet of F1-Indy cars

Postby woodman » Wed Jun 18, 2014 10:01 am

I'm building 3 cars for the 3 lane track to sponsor an Iroc style race where each car will be painted the color of each lane and the drivers rotate not the cars! Looking to promote this track one way or another!
The motors Pro-Slot 4000 Euro MK1 26,100 rpm ...Gears 8-30
This is the Chassis I ordered....JK 1/32 F1......

One down, 2 to go and man was this a fun car to run ....The parts finally came in except the rear Pro-tracks.Image
3 3/4'' wheel base whith these JK 1/32 cheetah 11 chassis..

I wish I could put 48 pitch gears on these, the 64 pitch crown gears seem so delicate the teeth not being as deep as the 48 pitch.. The JK 30 T 64 pitch gear is 1/2'' dia and it would be nice to find a 48 pitch no larger than 5/8'' dia. Otherwise you have to grind on the frame to open up the space for clearance..

Here is how they would line up on a 3 1/2'' lane spacing....

Thanks guys, I hope to spark interest here! Now..........it's amazing how refined or complex 1/32 can get...When you step up from the 48 pitch crown gears,to 64 pitch you basically have nothing to choose from ...It is understandable the way that Slot-It and others have locked in the motor shaft to keep the gear mesh constant...With such fine teeth, you would think it is a no-brainer for anyone producing a finer tooth gear than a 48 pitch would do the same! Endurance would be greater....When were 64 pitch crown gears ever produced in the past?

You know, if the teeth on the 48 pitch gears were longer" extending toward the axle , it would give a way to reduce the overall dia. of the gear...BUT NO!

Kind of like the recessed hub wheel they "JK" had to come up with for the 1/32 Cheetah 11 Anglewinder chassis......

For a 27T to fit I could take off about 20 thousandths from each side of the frame opening..

The JK chassis is great. Have you tried Slot-it gears? As long as you are using 3/32nds axles, they
will fit fine. The Pro-Slot motor will be real fast. Hope you are going to run these on a commercial
type track. Otherwise I think you will find a Ninco NC-5 plenty fast. If you want more speed, a
TSR D3 motor would be a good choice.
