Just received a few of the AL Green Camaro

I wondered what happened to them. The only thing I heard was that they were due for release on June 20, then nothing but silence.

This is my favorite Camaro from the T/A series, I cant pass this one up as I have wanted this car for too long.

$70?!? Count me out. That's ridiculous.

I suspect thats what happens to the price when you have to pay someone a "real" wage.

It won't be long before the factory workers in the far east, mainly China will be demanding better wages.

Its already happening Bob. I think the shift to India has already started as multinationals start looking for the next cheap labour country. Having visited China recently I was very pleasantly surprised. Hard to argue against people wanting a fair pay for a fair days effort.

Anyways its horses for courses. People pay $110 for an NSR, bought one and was disappointed, so only have the one. I suppose there is something in the market place for everyone at every price point. I bought a Ninco with NC1 and blacked out windows (no interior) for $15 on special for my son. A bit of fiddling and its only 0.2s off the pace of my Scalys!!

I'm not surprised the US has the first batch of Camaro's - Jules is likely trying to restore some of the customer base in the US...

I'm expecting better pricing elsewhere..... still good to see the White/Green.....

I'd pay $50-$60 +$5 shipping all day long for a Pioneer Camaro or Mustang but $80 is a bit over the top for me. I got my Sunoco Camaro when they were released in England and I think the total bill was less than $70. They are good running cars but really only marginally better than Scaleys.

The price you pay at your chosen dealer is whatever the dealer wishes to charge you. I would not want any of you to think that any of the manufactures are getting fat out of selling slot cars. That is quite simply not the case - whether they are made in the East or the West.

The traditional dealer network exists in many countries because, by all accounts, the slot car buyer still demands one and the manufactures are happy to use this sales channel.

If, as Waaytoomuchintothis complains, $70 is “ridiculous” then he will not buy at that price. This problem, when extrapolated further, will continue to advance the steady decline of many ‘old time’ methods of buying, not just in this hobby but across all products in all industries.

As I have been saying for many years now, there are far too many slot cars being produced on a monthly basis and the evidence is clearly out there to suggest that things have to change to prevent some mini-disasters occurring.

Until that time arrives, please enjoy what you got for as long as it lasts.

Things are changing, that is a fact. The hardships that Jules experienced, yet hung in there is admirable........to say the least. Not very many would have hung in there, maybe just one, him. It is no surprise that these are retailing at this price. I think they are worth it for sure. Now, would I rather pay $40 or $50, sure. If it's worth it to you, then you will. If not, you won't.

I will always shop for the best price I can get just like I did with my 1:1 cars. I never got one the first week they hit the showrooms but I never paid full MSRP. If that shopping takes me elsewhere then so be it.

Just remember, toys are a luxury item. I know you may think otherwise, but it is true.
