The end of another week. Time for some weekend fun around here. I have a full plate of plans to say the least. The General is taking me to "the big city" tonight for a nice dinner and some toy shopping. I got a coupon for Long John Silvers, and that means FREE iced tea...leaving more $$$ in yours truly's pockets for a trip to the hardware store. The song "Brass in Pocket" comes to mind :)
Dave K and Carrera are having a ball at the Cheetah reunion. What a great event and a perfect place to show off slot cars. Wish I could have made that trip.
New releases are slow this time of year but they will soon start arriving. My stable will get fatter very soon, in the meantime I can finish other projects. TIMING. Will have the oval done here very soon.
Hope all of you have a great weekend and you get some fun slot car time in :)

Ugh. Friday already (almost over here). I'd managed to ignore the close of another week until now. Yes another day of chasing after bureaucrats. Oh such fun.
I hope you enjoy you shopping trip Harry.

Wow, is it Friday already!? It has been a busy week for sure even though I have been on vacation. Seems like vacations at home only end up being time to catch up on things around the house you never have time to do on your days off.
I still have lots to do, the yard being one of them now that the rain has finally stopped for a couple days. I have a couple slot projects that I want to get done, one of them being my drivers/sanding stations that I will get finished up this morning. The other being a simple wheel swap that really made a huge difference to the car.
I hope everyone has a great weekend and gets all their projects done!

Marty - that track is insane. Hope you have a great time playing cars.
I flew in last night from Minneapolis, MN - and boy are my arms tired! I'll be here all week. Actually, I was there all week, but I digress...
I had to laugh on the flight- the stewardess (can I still use that term?) said they were going to dim the cabin lights before take-off because that enhances the beauty of the flight attendants. She then said that if that didn't work that they would be serving alcohol during the flight. Very funny team on the flight.
I was in town during the All-Star game and DON'T recommend doing that. Only available hotel that wasn't $500 a night due to the game was all the way out at the Mall of America and that meant a 45 minute train ride each way with the workers and weirdos (!). Quite the spectacle and I enjoyed the people watching. I did about 5 miles of brisk walking daily inside the mall. That is my normal speed since I simply hate shopping lol.
Long week of business trip, but made it home safe. Some honey-do's today, but I'm off work so that is just fine with me. I hope to get the track painting done sometime this weekend and then on to the taping. Have a few orders to punch out and then back to work on a few new upcoming RMS releases.
Oh! Have a BBQ with some friends tomorrow too, so that will be nice to cook on the grill.

Not much slot wise going on this weekend. Plenty of wood sawing going on, just about have it cut up and ready to be hauled off. I did manage to put a deposit on another Abarth today, this time a cabrio (convertible). It was marked down $8000 off of sticker couldn't hardly pass that up. My car will have to be fixed before I can get it. I'm happy again. :D

I figured it was totaled too, but they say the pillar will be replaced. It goes in on the 28th and I will get it back in 3-4 weeks. The car has been like the "Bad Seed", great movie for those who haven't seen it. :)

Creepiest little girl of all time. I wouldn't be surprised if she grew up to be Leona Helmsley, Sherilyn Fenn, or Martha Stewart.

Pulled a bunch of "old friends" out of their hiding places and gave each of them a few laps. It's easy to forget how much fun some of these older cars can be. Since I hadn't seen some of them in quite a while it was like I had a bunch of new cars!

Holy Cow Batman - what a ride! We headed out about 9 AM headed for Holly Hill Florida. Little did I know the GRRR retro group that I started was holding a practice day there for a race coming up next Sunday. So I got a chance to talk with a bunch of old friends. It was a whole lot of FUN running 1:32 and 1:24 cars around.
The track uses the lower lanes (black, purple, yellow and blue) for the full road course and the upper lanes (red, white, green and orange) for the double banked tri-oval. I had my Dirt Late Model FCR out and it was once again ripping off some very fast laps - somewhere in the high 2.4 second area. Not too bad for sitting in the box for about 9 months.
A good friend of mine handed me one of his Can-Am cars and said, "Run some laps and we'll see if you still remember how to run one of these retro cars." Not a problem. After easing into the car I was running right near the front of the pack of 4 cars. Kind of like riding a bicycle, you don't forget how to do it.
After a few hours it was time to head over to DeBary and see ModlerBob at his place. While it was HOT in the sun, inside the building was not bad. There was a nice breeze coming out of the west, so we opened up the rear door and let the coolish breeze come from the back hallway and blow through the unit. It was toasty, but almost comfortable. But we're slot car racers and we were having FUN.
I got a chance to do some testing and most of what I was testing made me smile. I had a couple of items that did not work out as planned, so it's time to do a bit more tuning.
Regardless of anything else, it was an awesome day for slot car racing and seeing lots of old friends.
