Yes, they have the same motor. In my opinion, the BMW M1 is the best handling car because it's COG is a bit lower. Not the prettiest though.

Hi racer, Christian is correct about the motors and in fact the whole mechanical set up is pretty much the same. They make great magless racers. Our group has been racing these as a class this year, and have found different winners with different cars. The Capri the Lanci the M1, the Ferrari and the Porsche have all taken top spot in various races.
A lot of it depends on your driving style, and how well you set the car up.
Also the type of course you are running on has a lot to do with it.
I like the M1, but have had good luck with the Lancia. I am now matching that performance with the Ferrari 512 bb.
Sideways have been smart in keeping the guts consistent and just differing in body styles.
It keeps a very competitive class.
Waiting to see what new body style comes next.

First off, the motor that is supplied with all of the Sideways Group 5 cars is the Slot.It Flat-6 motor. From all that I have read, that motor is rated at 20,500 rpm. The Slot.It Flat-6R is rated @ 22,000 rpm and the Slot.it Flat-6RS is rated @ 25,000 rpm.
The choice of cars depends on the type of track you are running on. If the straights are short and the turns are of small radius, I might lean towards the Lancia. It has a pretty short wheelbase, which under normal conditions can be made to out handle a car with a longer wheelbase.
I have driven both the BMW and Capri variants of the Sideways products. Based on what I like in a slot car, I would lean towards the Capri as the car I would choose for the more sweeping turn layouts.
Whatever car you drive, I would more than likely go to a 1 or 2 tooth smaller spur gear. With all that torque coming out of a corner, the car could deslot. Sometimes having a lower numerical gear ratio will tame that issue.
Let us know what you choose and how it works for you.

Although the motors are the same on these cars I have noted variations. On some the can is open on one side - these may come installed with the opening up top or down below. Some cans have been seen with two openings and others are closed can.
