TGIF - Decisions, Decisions

Postby HomeRacingWorld » Fri Dec 12, 2014 7:44 am

Been a very busy week around here. Finished our SCOTY awards and managed a few maintenance updates on the site. The real news is that we need to prepare for the onslaught of new toys that are coming :)

Looks like a lot of new choices are coming our way very close to Christmas time. I hope you all have been good :occasion-xmas:

Going to have a full weekend with grandkids coming to bake cookies and help us decorate a little more around the house. Then on Sunday we have VIP's arriving for a surprise visit. Have to clean the Skunkworks... :)

What about you folks? Any fun plans?

Racing with the HOST guys in Sat morning, then off to work in the afternoon (overtime is good!!)

No real plans for Sunday yet. Maybe some time with the wife would be a good thing :D

We survived the great Nor Cal monsoon of the last couple of days. We picked up 5 1/2 inches of rain in 24 hours. It wasn't as bad locally as was forecast. I think the center of it went through a little bit south of here. Tomorrow will be nice before the rain starts up again on Sunday so we'll probably go to the coast to play.

Today I am in the shop working on my slot car attic. I hope to set up a dedicated brass soldering station so that I can try my hand at some brass chassis builds. Thinking of a couple of new slot car track projects including a digital hybrid plastic & wood oval using the two digipro sets that have been gathering dust in the attic. Nothing fancy planned because I doubt the fragile Artin digi bits will last long but it will be fun trying it out. I also want to add a new twisty section into my wood road track.

No slot car stuff for the next couple of weeks. I'm going Southwest to see my brother and dad. I did manage to finish a couple of cars this week. Will post pics after Christmas. Everyone have Merry Christmas!! :D

His Lordship is down the other end of the state visiting his boys and picking up our Christmas present (smoker cabinet) thereby saving $50 delivery. So today I have family duty checking up on Mum and will wander across town in the 33C heat. I hope to get some testing done on my Lotus build now that I have the Ranch Design gears in hand now. Looking forward to being able to paint it and finish it off. Still waiting on Immense Miniatures to finish Sir Jack's head, but for now Mike Spence is keeping the pilot seat warm. Might have to hang off on painting until the last minute so I can decide on final driver. About now I'd just like to get the thing finished so I can move onto the next proxy build.

Woof. 91 degrees is pretty hot that close to big water, I imagine. When its 91 here, the river, the ocean, and the big puddle at the end of the driveway all come together to make it unbearable.

Finally installed call buttons. All that is left is adding scenery to the track. That will take forever. It's taken this long to complete the timing and call buttons.
