Yes, Thompson has said that he will do custom decals again this year. He needs to know the numbers for the cars, so that he can make them up. Once you have your number decided (no duplicates this year, so check the roster thread first), send him a PM and let him know, so that he can make it up for you. The same goes for all of the rest of us............... Thompson is rsstudio on this board.

I did my initial build of the Vette over the weekend, and received the motor and new gears yesterday and got them installed... I didn't think a 14k motor car would run this well. Time to trim up axles and get inserts done.

Yup, with bigger motors, I find that I spend a lot of time taming the torque and rpms with gearing and attention to tire prep. The smaller motors give up straightaway speed, but they sure are quick and easy to drive through the turns.

Very nice looking car there, Dave! The bumpers, rack and rag top are work really well together. The color of the body and the rag top really pop on the car.

:text-threadjacked: I actually had a VW bug that color when we lived in CA (Davis). It was what VW marketed as a "Love Bug"; lime green paint job with black and orange vinyl decals, black and white check seats, sun roof and aluminum-colored wheel covers. :text-threadjacked:

:text-threadjacked: The Love Bug that I had was like the green one in the pic below. But, I think that the guys at the dealership had had a little fun with it, because It had black and orange pin striping on it. We bought it new, but I think there was a little CA customizing that had gone on.........................we never ever saw another one like it. Traded in a '74 Camaro with Hurst 4 speed that we'd used to pull a U-Haul trailer from MA to CA (over the Rockies).

The Love Bug was right at home in CA. My parents took it on a trip to Yosemite one year when they came out to visit; my father got pulled over for speeding and when the officer saw who was driving the Love Bug, he just laughed and told them to slow down............... :text-threadjacked:

I'm guessing that is a post-1974 in the poster. I never heard about a Love Bug model, or I have forgotten it. There were a lot of special trims on VW over the years. My Karmann-Ghia was built as a "California Special", with the same kind of trim enhancements and special paint. By the time I got it, it had been a race car and retired to a pasture.

You did a great job on that Beetle, Dave. That's a beauty. Almost a shame to run anything that pretty.
