New Compact Set!

Postby dc6287 » Sat Oct 05, 2013 6:24 pm

Saw it at ihobby today. Solid blue Michelin Porsche and a red Porsche as well, oh and a loop. Not to impressed with the set but 2 new cars to get a hold of.

Wow! A loop??? That kind of scares me cause historically Compact cars have been too low to do loops!

That's an old set revisited. Good to see there are still some out there.

The scx guys really had no responses to any of my 1/43 inquires, just kept saying " try our digital 1/32", and if your going to do a loop at least make it part of a cool set like Carrera does! Just my opinion though.

You Know I hate to say it, but I don't think the guys @ SCX "get" 1/43 anymore then the guys @ Carrera do! I think the main reason they ever did a 1/43 set in the first place was to sell @ Target and to hit a price point and once that deal fell through, the Compact line was basically left to rot. It's a shame that like Carrera they can't really see how much potential there is there! :violence-smack:

It all OK though, because, I can certainly see that within the next few years most of us will be "printing" our own bodies and chassis and building our own cars, (even more then we are now) and we won't need somebody to "GET IT" :auto-driving:

Does anyone know if the cars that come in the set have a higher ride height for the loop or is the loop designed to work with the regular ride height of the compact cars?

Best regards,
Brian

All indications are that SCX is putting minimal effort into the Compact line; It's startling to think they went through the effort to build a loop (die's, tooling & what not) but i would be astounded if the re-did the porsche chassis and body to accomodate loops. The good thing with the Porsche is it has short front & rear overhangs so the loops may not be a problem for it!??
