Yeah, Don't think I have ever seen a long Artin straight in 1/43!??

Here's another idea, since it's just a drag strip, why not use a 1/32 scale track!!??

I am pretty sure you could pick some up in the for sale or trade area pretty cheaply!

OR go with Carrera Go! or SCX Compact.

Actually if you are building a drag strip you would not even need to use a router, just use a table saw!!!!!!

for me, if i would have to build another track, there would be 2 possibilities:
- wood with copper tape (run only cars with rotating guides)
- carrera track (has the most curve radii available and long straights are available

you decide :)

ooh come on Bro You been around here for a while,the ARTIN CROSS OVER IS 12 INCH,JUST LIKE THE STRAIGHTS THESE WERE common when I built RIVERSIDE,I ended up taking my BOX truck to SCOTTSVILLE KENTUCKY where DOLLAR GENERALS main distribution ware house and bringing 40 cases (10 sets per case) back to MADISON INDIANA,to be split between 2 stores,the set that was in them was the TRUCK BATTERY POWERED SETS that at that time sold for 8 bucks each ,they had 4 of the long straights in each set,at that time my wife was the manager over both stores here in MADISONso I guess ya could say I had inside help,but guys they do make 12 inch straights!

thought I`d give you gents an update,heres where I`m at now,got the MDF ripped in 11 3/4 wide pieces,came in 3 inches from each side and cut a 1/4 inch deep 1/8 wide slot groove,hope to get some grey paint on them today,thanks goes out to "WAYTOMUCHINTOTHIS" for cutting me a deal on the MAGNETIC BRAID (200 FT),hopefully to be shipped today or tomorrow, my TIMING SYSTEM is in back order mode from good ol Jegs(only the guy upstairs knows when I`ll recieve that),thanks to the guys at SLOT CAR CORNER for the double back tape and route bit,so if all goes well today I`ll be setting in WAIT MODE! :o :lol:

PS no I still haven`t bought a camera,damn things cornfuse me :lol: and it does`nt take much to do that anymore! but I will take some and if I have to I`ll send em to someone else to post! :lol: hava good one!

why am i reading double back tape? no copper tape? you are not cheating and laying down some magnetic braid, don´t you?

chalkboard paint - hey good idea, still have some in the basement, i could use it for the wood drag strip, too.
Does it offer more grip that flat latex?

good morning PuddleDude,yeah according to ShotGun Dave it does have more grip,I`m sure after some use I`ll havta recoat it a few times,there won`t be any tire tack used on it so that`ll help,gotta get some coffee in me talk atcha later!

I'd hold off on that recoating idea. The more "rubbered in" the surface gets, the better the racing, by far. In the archives from the old site, there is an article Harry did that includes some pictures of his well-used track with lots of rubber showing.
