What's on your bench right now? [1/43]

I started work on a 143 TransAm Camaro. This is the first 143 chassis to use the new Twincan design . I am also using piano wire cross bar to stiffen the chassis. The idea is on high speed cornering the weight is transferred through the piano wire to the front wheel on the opposite side of the chassis to prevent tip and roll. So far works like a dream. Full throttle into the corner at the front straight, all I get is a flat spin and no roll. Bearings are used on the front and rear axles and am utilizing the smaller guide to address some of the issues learned from this years ProNoMag proxy.

I am adding rear fender flares to enclose the bigger tires in use. Going with bigger rubber to try and convert the added torque from the second motor into usable power for acceleration.

In trials this chassis has been very easy to drive fast. I may send this to Lloyd for the Gaydon show if I get it all together in time

I have only just started trying both that motor and the black N20s, I have not got them to the driving stage yet.

is there only one cross bar or are there 2?
nice fender flares! what putty are you using?

I have added the second cross strut. It is amazing how solid it has become.

I use automotive spot putty. Way less expensive then anything hobby related.

Twincan is working well, quick acceleration and good braking. Just wished these motors had another couple of thousand rpm in them. I guess if you ran them at 16 volts you would get that.

In my opinion the rear rims don´t look like chrome. But I think it is because of the rough printed surface.

The separate inserts look better. Don´t know why.

This is one reason why I stick with aluminum rims.

BTW - my oldest - even if not "Molotow" - chrome effect pen is ca. 15 years old now, carefully sealed and stored it still works very well. Meanwhile these metallic pens aren´t sold anymore because they contained Toluene.

Well, I think it is also a matter of the photo. It is difficult to present chrome really realistically on a photo.

Another thing - have you ever thought about painting your chassis black ? Somehow the golden shine under the car does not really match an otherwise good lookig model - IMHO .
