27 cars showed up this year to take the challenge of the ProNoMag, the 1/43rd proxy race on a wood track. 24m of mdf with latex paint that can make the difference between race cars and sunday drivers ;)
As there are many cars this year, the race managment had to take a decision that will not make it popular to the entrants. Best times during training laps have been 9 seconds and lower. First discussion have been about decisions after the test laps, that the fastest time during the test laps have to be only 1.5 times higher than the 9seconds limit of fast cars. That would make the limit 13.5 seconds. Now get out the stones, but please don´t hit the scenery of the Desmo. It takes around 30 to 40 minutes per car and lap times above the 13.5 seconds limit are only boring. A stock out of the box artin car can make a 13 seconds lap. And this is a race. Sorry for this.
But now for the more funny part: Let´s start!

car #1 - Martin0409 - Chevy SSR
What a great chassis in Doppelgänger configuration! What would i have given to hear that double scream. but with silicone tires, the race officials decided DQ immediately!

car #2 - 007 - pink porsche
carrera guide pin will block in all tight corners. i gave up after 20 laps, i did not get one lap completed.
This will lead to another rule change for next years race - all entered cars will have to have rotating guides.
DNQ

car #3 - Martin - Opel Manta
SlideGuide not wired correctly, the car will stop in all tight corners - and the Desmo has some of them!
Again, not one complete lap in 20 trials. DNQ

car #4 - Lloyd - Ford Torino
What a great looking car! But sadly, i was not able to fix the pinion. Tried 3 times, but it will always come loose under acceleration, even with dialed down voltage.

car #5 - 007 - Lola #210
25 ohm, 8V
pin guide, a very small tendency to jump out of the slot, ratlling on the straight, very carefull driving in the turns but awesome quite gears. nice to watch.
stopped in lap 10 to get some hugs. after this short pause it felt okay to finish the race. don´t know why, it looked like dead, but started again. electric system from england maybe?

car #6 - betz - Fiat 600
all of wolfgang cars are going in the wrong direction, so i had to change the wiring of the track, but quite easy.
after 4 laps, a gear collapsed with a LOUD whining noise. I don´t see a possibility to open the car, so it got a DNF.
it would have been questionable if the Fiat would qualify. best laps after 4 laps was 15.277
sorry Wolfgang.

car #7 - betz - Mercedes W196
one test lap - not finished. blocked guide, gears are turning only very hard, not going in a straight line. I don´t want to damage the gears or the car totally, so, another DNF.

car #8 - betz - Porsche 917
10V, 35 ohm
G9330 powered and also here something is binding in the drive train. Slot jumper. As soon as i pushed it just a little, the rattling on the straights became so much worse, that the car will jump out of the slot.

car #9 - 007 - Plymouth Roadrunner
9V, 45 ohm
smooth car, tendency to start a barrel roll when entering the turn a little too fast
great to drive and really fast on the straights. a little to calculate when entering the turn, CoG a little too high.

car #10 - 007 - Camaro
12V, 45 ohm
dry grinding gear noise, great brakes, good accelaration and top speed. especially liked the turn before the esses to jump out of the slot. nice speed for a pin guide. High CoG, carefull entering the turn.

car #11 - stuemper - Opel Commodore
12V 45 ohm
lost wheel insert in turn 3 and rear bumper 4 turn later while hitting the scenery. nice straight line speed, a little high CoG. strange wiring of the slideguide causes some problems, but they could be dealt with. Guide sitting to high in the chassis.
Nice driver, but i had to adjust the braides ever 5 laps.

car#12 - stuemper - Hudson Hornet
10V 25 ohm
Very nice car, great stance, narrow rear track and good gripping tires afford carefull entering of the turns. The scream of the goldmine is carrying this car arround the track. It looks great when sliding out of the turn!
In test lap #8, i readjusted the crown gear before the goldmine eater hits again. A small drop of oil on the motor bearing and a little grease on the pinion and the car got much quiter and now i think it´s possible that the crown will last the race ;)
switched to 15 ohm and 9.5 for the race for better controll.
nice running car and looks great on the track.
i had to readjust the crown again while racing on lane 2, in lap 18. it seems like the axle is so hard that the set screw can´t grip. never tightened those tiny screws so hard. but the car got over the race distance.

can#13 - Lloyd - Fiat 500
12V 45ohm
a little thungsten putty in the cavaties of the H0 chassis and a drop of oil on the rear axle helped the tiny Fiat to master the qualifying time limit. great straight line speed, you can see the blocked rears when you hit the breaks - awesome. CoG as high as the Eiffel tower. Smooth runner which is really great to watch going round the track. Nice paint and decals on the smallest car in the field. Nice driver.
Surprinsingly smooth, this little goes around the track always on the edge of a barrel roll, you can see that the driver has his hands full, but in a very enjoyable way :)

car #14 - 007 - Chevelle
16V 90 ohm
I had exchange the short, widened guide by a stock scx guide to get it aroung the track and we have to talf about the benefits of a small drop of oil on the axles and a little grease on the gears sometime! The puddle dude race team mechanics helped a little and the Chevelle changed to a 3 levels quieter runner. Nice handling on this extra wide car, no chance to bring it into a barrel roll. Tires could have more grip, but got an interesting color that matches the paint job ;)

car #15 - Cjent - Audi A4 DTM #14
16V, 90ohm
a bone stock SCX DTM car, a good one, quiet gears, motor with good revs. For me, it seems that the only modification that has been done are aftermarket tires, good and round ones.
This car is depressing for all those selfbuilt cars, as well as for me. awesome handling, great speed, just the right amount of brakes.

car #16 - CarGo - Plymouth Cuda #89
12V 45 ohm
low CoG, seems to a little more weight in the backend. quite gears, running smooth, fast motor, could need a little more brakes so.
Very consistent runner, will slide before rolling. Quite fast.

car#17 - Broman62 - Ford Fusion#20
Tirs leave a residue on track - i think those are sillies. Don´t be too sad, Tom, initial lap was only 11.8 seconds, got too much weight on board. Had to change the guide as yours has been shortened for artin track.
DQ

car #18 - CarGo- Ford Capri #55
15V 90ohm
Nice handling car with some grip problems in the big bend, you can see the car rattling at high speed through the whole turn. Looks awesome!
oil & grease by PDR ;)

car #19 - Datto - Corvette #64
10V 25ohm
Awesome looking car, great handling, good speed, the limit for the car are the tires that don´t offer much grip.
only one deslot during the whole race, that´s what i like!

car#20 - broman 62 - Mercury #22
11V 25 ohm
smooth, quiet, good to controll. the narrow track of the car is limiting the lap times, early braking and early accelaration are required to get it around the track with just a whisper :)
guide is sitting a little high in the chassis, i think this is also causing the quite early deslotting.

car #21 - broman 62 - Coupe #23
11V 25ohm
good training laps, but after 2 laps in the race the crown came loose! Easy to do on a RD part! After a short interruption the puddle dude mechanics had the coupe back on track! Wow, this car is fast! Great handling, awesome speed and grip, a true race car! A little bit on the wide and bid side, so i had to be carefull when hanging the rear out :D
great handling, really nice driving

car #22 - Sven - Porsche 911 #114
13V 45ohm
the first car with one of the SlotDevilMicro chassis - a heavy metal chassis.
For me the main difference in heavy cars like this is that when you overdrive it, it takes way longer to get up to speed than a light car. It´s a little more forgiving maybe. Accelaration is not that good, but not because of a weak motor or bad tires. Both of them are good, very good. It´s the simple differnce in weight.
Anyhow, the Porsche is handling really good and constant to drive. Great paint job and nice decals, the look only suffers from the Carrera body with the high nose.
A quiet, smooth and constant driving car, all in all a great runner and looking great, too.

car #23 - Sven - Audi A4 DTM #14
99.9% the same as car#22

car #24 - CarGo - Mercedes DTM #
12.5V 45ohm
the motor of the benz seems stronger than from Svens cars. A tad better handling, but also more vibrations through hard driven tight turns.
Awesome paint and decals. Lost his wing in the training laps for lane 3, but still drove good ;)

car #25 - Sven - Porsche 962 #27
12.5V 25ohm
Printed type 2 chassis, Kyosho X-motor, longer gearing - the last ones only a guess.
i don´t really like the power curve of the a-motor, but the car running good. a little stomping in the esses, but still a smooth runner. And that with a bent chassis with a body mounting that doesn´t really align with the holes in the chassis and in this way raising one front wheel of the track. Had to glue in the motor during the training laps.
no deslot on lane 3! A great looking and good running car! Stomping out of the corner after tire shop.

car #26 - Peter - Porsche 962 #10
15.5V 90ohm
printed type 3 motor pod chassis, CarGo Tires, brass tube bearings, stock kysho motor and gearing.
An omnipresent very slight rattling can be heared when the Porsche flies over the track. Deep diving into the turns, early accelaration, picking up speed like it´s glued to the track. thanks to 16V enough top speed on the straights. Simply a great car.

car #27 - Peter - Lancia Beta Turbo
12.5V 25ohm
the little diva got opened in lap 15 due to strange driving. a little oil helped but not to long. a true italian racing car. handling and tractin are very good, similar to the 962. a little stomping in the uphill turn. smooth and quite. Still some strange driving - like something is binding in the drive train. but only for half a lap and than noting for 3 laps and full lap binding - than nothing and again. strange. could have done better. but i was afraid to shred the drive train again. Still nice driving and great too look at. maybe it pick up some dirt that got suck under the front lip? no, can´t be, dirt will not fit under that front lip :D

I have to thank all sponsors for their prices, thanks to all entrants for sending all those nice cars and thanks to everyone involved in 1/43rd for spending time and money to make this hobby as great as it is!
Thanks for letting me drive all those nice cars!
It was a great race!
shall we continue it?
Cheers,
