After some modification of attachment points, TheBoyz installed an Artin knock-off mechanical lap counter on the speedway. The 0-9 device, though spot-on with Artin-type pin guides, is woefully inaccurate when recording the travels of the only SCX swiveling flag setup, which is on the Hudson/Jag. Since the NFS is populated primarily with Luddites, the crew is discussing how to remedy the situation without ditching the flag and has no intention of any electronic alternative.

The caravan bangers run extremely well, and, as soon as I can get some video, their performances will be posted. On a more somber note, the Senator Reliant Robin has crown gear difficulties and will be back in the shop for repairs.

BTW, The Norwich City FC vows to attend 1/43 Lloyd's flat-warming in Ipswich. The Canaries lads say they will bring their own torches...

BUT - are you sure that this thing on the back is wing and not an air brake?

or did the boys incorporate a mechanism to have wing on the straights and an air brake in the braking zone (does an oval have a braking zone?)

As mentioned, the crew at the Fab Shoppe demonstrates the Luddite Life at its zenith, so there is no braking zone nor Cox-inspired actuated air brake. The accessory is only cosmetic, however, TheBoyz do have a frequently-used "breaking" zone which they employ much of the work day--perhaps because the 'Dillo Wings food truck also serves artisan coffees...

Some of my extended wheelbase cars experience handling problems on the tight oval, but a recent visit to the neighborhood thrift store may present a remedy. I picked up a Golden Bright #66723 Loop Chaser set. After salvaging the track, controllers, and power source I might utilize in the future, I turned my attention to pulling the chassis magnets. When I unscrewed the chassis from the body, the pickup braid and pin dropped out in a module block.

The set came with a pair of extra module blocks and I employed a fine screw/nut/washer combo to make a swivel pickup on my old Judge
frame extension on my 53 Studebaker. After soldering some wires to the metal strips in the original Artin set-up, this should work out fine. I e-mailed Golden Bright in Hong Kong to inquire about securing some more of these modules (hopefully from someplace that is closer, postage-wise, than HK.)

BTW, the set had been returned to its original store with a label claiming one of the two Mustangs did not run. Both cars run excellently.
