Not sure if this is the spot for Slot car tracks, but I see a few mentioned here so I will go for it.

I am building a layout out of Go Track. I have added extra width to the inside lane to allow me to run my Old Cox 1/24 scale cars. The layout has a good track to scenery ratio as I like to take pictures. Being an old Model railroader scenery is important to me, so I built a pretty straight forward track, but the hairpin makes it challenging enough. I prefer running NOMAG as it best represents the slot cars I played with as a youth,

The track is 12 Feet by 4 ft. Milled wood frame with a high density foam top. Track is Carrera Go with the only R1 corners being in the hairpin.

I am using a Scaletrix ARC race control system that has been modified to work on the GO track. This allows me to use the ARC race system with timing and refueling options. I added a pit lane and you must enter the pits to fuel up and change tires. It just adds a little to the racing.

I took some measurements before building. I tested a Cox Lotus 40 and it passed without issue. However I doubt a winged car would make it through. The Lotus 40 looks a little funny on this " narrow" layout, but it ran fine and it satisfies my craving for running the old big stuff I have.

I just checked out your set up. Very nice to have a dedicated room like that. I see you too are interested in good looking scenery and believable structure placement. Currently I have an N scale layout in my basement, but I haven't touched it in 10 years. This new layout is kind of a test for me. If the draw and appeal of slot cars holds on to me I may dismantle the N scale layout. However I have been able to fit, what I think is a decent track in the room I have left. ( the layout sits on top of some shelving units in my storage room. The aesthetics are not that nice, but I am going to make the best of it. The layout will have drapery hiding the stuff on the storage shelves and I may build a valance to hide all the lighting. It will be kind of like racing in a big shadow box!! I did this with my train layout and it present very well when visitors stop by.

This side of my basement only has a height of 5'11(sunken living room above) so that detracts as well, but hey I am only 5'-10" so no real issue for me operational wise.

Thanks! I'm very fortunate to have some space for the shop and track. I'm a former N-train guy as well and just love the stuff, but cars are really my passion.

If the ceiling is 5'11, that's still 3.5" over my requirements ;)

Nice size track not too small no too big...

I went big with my track which is fun to race on but... cleaning often the track from dust is becoming a challenge & that is one reason I didn't start my scenery yet , I imagine how hard it would be cleaning the track all around with the scenery build in...
The circuit is in my unfinished basement so dust gets on the track pretty quickly unless I vacuum (shop vac) once a week...

Now it doesn't matter too much when running the cars with magnets but without magnets you really need the track & the car tires to be really clean & free of dust

I pretty much finished up the Hairpin and overpass. Here is a picture of a Lexus going into the curve

The Lexus is a BanDai kit with a full interior. It is set up on a sidewinder chassis with guide flag.
