Well, I decided to try my hand at a scratch built chassis. It is by far nothing fancy, but it turned out very functional. It runs quite smooth to my surprise. The chassis is made of Plastruct. I decided to go with a pin for the guide, even though I prefer guide flags. I have to say it works just fine, although I will be trying a guide flag for the next Cuda. I have only painted a couple of models, so I'm not very experienced on that end of things either. Overall, I am pleased with how things turned out.............it won't end up in the trash can  As with most things, the more you do it......the better you get, or at least that's the way it is supposed to work. I have links to the pics below to see what the chassis looked liked, body stance on chassis before paint, and body stance on chassis after paint. I adjusted the final stance a little to favor the "jacked up" looked, because I liked it and I'm the car owner  -gary

Looking so good Gary!!!   :auto-layrubber:
Did you say you are a beginner?
Sure is a lot of talent out there. I'm going to miss it when the "big toy guys" get their act together. The fellows who make their own do such fine jobs.
Cheers Ted

Ya that's nice! Do you have any more pics of the chassis? The round stock axle mount is very appealing.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys! Randy - I only took the one quick picture of the chassis, the next one I build I will try to take a couple more shots to make it a little clearer. I would take more of this chassis, but I stole an idea from Harry's article on the artin bombers build and just hot glued the body and chassis. I can take a hobby knife and open it up, but I'd rather not. -gary

No! Definitely don't do anything that could possibly do any damage.

Hey Gary,
Excellent work!
Where did you get the wheels?
Thanks for sharing

It wouldn't do any damage to anything by opening it up, it's just kind of a pain. The hot glue trick works very well, but it isn't ideal if you want to have easy access to the motor and chassis etc. at all times. Believe it or not Greg, I got those wheels off of a cheap two car set that was reduced at a grocery store after Christmas. It was a small oval with two artin like cars........for $7.50. Heck, the two motors alone are worth $3.75 ea alone. Kinda lucky, I thought those wheels looked great for the resin Cuda.
