I have been playing around with the GO track that we have.As always ,needed more straights.Seems that way which ever scale it is.Thought about some foam board.Cheap, easy to cut since I only needed straights.Slapped these together in a short time.Guys it works great, just make sure your lane spacing is correct.Copper tape and we were racing.

Doesn't it wear hard in the slot? Maybe its not the same kind of foam I'm used to.

Neat idea, how long have you ran cars on the foam straight?
How did you but the guide slot in the foam?
What brand of foam board did you use?
How dose the foam hold up under the running of your cars?

Looks good.
I'm on a bit of a quest to find a good way to produce a lightweight but durable (for home use), "routed" track that can be dismantled and stored, and easily reassembled.
This looks like a potential step in that direction.
What kind of foam did you glue the foamboard onto?
David.

Cool idea! Well done, too.
I can see doing a variety of track pieces with this. Even different turn radius and unique things.
Bibbster did a whole track with insulation foam board. He treated like it was MDF.
Thanks for sharing your ideas.

hey thanks!
I made a foam board track several years ago out of the type of foam that you cover a house with.It had a foil covering ,which we painted, and we ran the fool out it.
On this deal I just glued the foam pieces onto the same type of foam board with tackey glue.I'll try to get some pictures of the next section before I glue them together..

Hey thanks guys.I just used black foam board,no paint. Here are a couple of pictures of the before and after.Just cut the top pieces to size.Gained about an extra 10 feet of running from two foam boards.
