hey guys
first off this is going to be pic heavy. been wanting to do a pro street type car for a while so i started this thing about a month ago. basic 69 chevelle snap kit from amt, scratch brass chassis in its 3rd configuration. i wanted the full interior so ended up throwing the motor in the trunk. wheels were turned by me and the tires are from a testors 32 ford kit(i wanted the proper big and little pro street tires) and recast them in urethane. i havent decided on wheel inserts or not, i kinda like the "centerline" look of the late '80's early '90's which is what i was going for. engine block is from ertl 65 chevelle and the breathers i made on the lathe. the tranny and rearend housing are from a ertl 67 firebird. after a couple of test laps, found that she doesnt corner worth a crap and thats ok, but with the weight out back she will pull the front tires and keep them up about halfway down the back straight. got the base color on. two more colors to go and a heartbeat graphic decal. i want one of those flashy obnoxious paintjobs of the era

You know I can't pass up any Chevelle thread! Really nice work. The chassis looks awesome as well! The only question I have is where are the 1980's-era Pro-Street stripes?

Is it driven by the pinion gear rubbing on the tire? I'd really like to see the "drive" setup.

hey guys
thank you for all the kind words. this thing has been a real challenge. still some trim work to do and tidy things up a bit, clear coat etc... as promised a cheesy '80's paint job. Bill yes the tire is driven directly off the pinion. not breaking any speed records on the road course with those tires and it handles like a tank, but she will get down the straight in style. still have some tire rub issues in the back, need to narrow the tubing a bit. need to put in the exhaust pipes and the rest of the engine bay components to be installed yet as well, radiator, battery, chrome foil the firewall ,inner fenders and core support etc..

Great work on the chassis, the drop arm is a great touch and in combination with the rear engine, the wheelies are for sure really nice!
