Slotcar rallying is proving to be very popular in 1/32 scale and I would very much like to do something similar in 1/43 scale.

This pilot is to gauge possible interest.

I am considering running a proxy on my 1/43 single lane rally track, 'Little Monte' some time later in 2014. The track can be seen at:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/532718610087823/ (scroll right down for photos). For those of a nervous disposition, scale height 2' walls are being added to the higher up bends at the moment!
The track is routed wood with copper tape, so traction magnets have no effect on there. My test cars were an old Artin Porsche and a Carrera GO Ford Focus rally car fitted with a swivel guide.

This track can be a challenge to get round as it has some very tight hairpin bends, but I have found that most cars can be made to get round it, best laps so far around 35 seconds.

The idea is to allow any car that has competed in the Monte Carlo Rally at some time, which includes most road cars ever made and some racers.

I only highlighted the facebook group Roland as it is the only place dedicated to 1/43 rallying at the moment. If this develops I will look at other places to show this part of the hobby.

Depending on When you do it I could be in! Late spring would be about the earliest I could manage though! I "might" Present more then one car even!! I jhave so many good candidates for this!!

I am looking at later next year Mas, probably August onwards, so there is no rush to build just yet.

Really just putting feelers out to see if there is any interest and, so far, it is looking promising!

Just a note regarding choices of car. Whereas I have a Volvo 122 and a Falcon that can get round the Little Monte track, and I did have a DTM car that went round ok, these and other long wheelbase cars such as the Citroen DS19s are at a disadvantage against the nimbler, smaller cars.

As for who enters what car, many cars of each type were entered, so entering more than 1 of a paricular car is no problem.

Just move the guide back on the DS and use steering front wheels.... simple :twisted:

Marc, I do intend to have steering front wheels on my cars, but I did not expect others to do that as there are no ready made steering units available. I would love to see all the cars have steering because opposite lock looks great, but it is not easy to do!

hi Lloyd--- that is some track you have there. and a super invitation I might add. how many volts??? if it isn't ridiculously high I am in. I will let you guess what my entries will be. thanks
