BROADSPEED MINI / HORNET FIRST TEST SHOTS

hey guys
I came across some pics of this car and decided I had to build one. . . or 3 :D . I just didn't realize how frickin tiny an actual mini is until the Heller kits arrived. I would hate to see an HO scale version of this thing but they are cool little cars. got a couple of Peters mini chassis which are awesome, and we are off. so here is what I am after ( in street trim) and then my progress so far, its just getting to the ugly part of the build :lol:

I figured you would probably want a couple Peter, glad to send them. got a little work done it. smoothing out the back end and started on the flares. I need to get the other mini started and get the other running mate going too. I will reveal that one later. you will like it too Peter. I will need to get a couple more of your chassis'

i already like the work you´ve done to the GT!
what i wish - that i would have sent the flared Mini (now red with white stripe) to get it casted before i painted it! Now i need to do that fender flare job again, plus the lowering of the body before. I can remember only to well how long it took to get it smooth. silly me (again). But hey, it´s part of the fun as well!

i need chassis, wheel inserts and from Ranch-Design 2 pairs of the Marchon H0 Jeep wheels, just like the ones already used. Set screw wheels with a set screw crown make adjustments to the rear axle so easy that i won´t miss them.
And tires - but these are already ordered from CarGo.

Peter your flares look awesome. you might try some 3/32 quarter round styrene wrapped around a 7/16 inch dowel. they came out perfect and none of that drying,sanding,drying,sanding. i have to shape a little on the front flares and they are done. as soon as i am happy with the rear quarter panels the rear flares are ready to go on.





and no Peter its not a Marcos, a Wolsely Hornet/Riley Elf. this is what i envisioned zipping around my track

That is alot of work so far. Nice job! What are you using on the wheel arches?

David i am using 3/32 quarter round styrene wrapped around a 7/16 dowel and glued to form a loop so as to hold its shape while being glued to the car and then trim off the excess. there is a pic above and its actually a large exacto handle. fit the mini wheel arches perfectiy

Brilliant. I've done that before but thought in one pic it looked like it was flexible and that's why I asked. Nice stuff!

thanks for the flowers Mickey! the tip with the 3/32 quarter round styrene is good - will try to locate some!
would be an easier and faster way to get the flares and they look awesome, too! big thumbsup!

got the flares done, i will see what they look like after a coat of primer. now to finish blending in the roof and rear deck area, clip the wing and finish the rear panel and bumper

What an achievement! This would have been fiddly enough in 1/32!

I almost hate to say it, but you might want to get a front view of a Broadspeed Mini.I've just got a feeling that the grille wasn't as heavy as the Rover Mini grille.
